    Hurlstone Selective Yr 8-12 Test

Just my two cents. For all of those in Year 10, take the test - regardless of whether you want to get in or not. I didn't and two years down the track, I'm still kicking myself because of the amount of people I know who got in (not that I don't like my school, but it would've been nice to go...

Is hsc English a real subject?

Of course HSC english is a real subject. People may not like it, but it's definately a real subject. If subjects like music and art can be considered real subjects, I can't see why English wouldn't.

The "I didn't go well in my half yearlies" Thread

No they don't. You can't buy a UAI. Going to a private school doesn't mean you'll get a good UAI, regardless of how much money you throw at your school.

Where are you going for work experience?

LOL work experience. I didn't have to do any.

    How do these subjects scale???

The subjects which scale well - Advanced English, Mathematics Ext 1, Physics and Chemistry. The subjects which have average scaling - Engineering Studies and Studies of Religion I. To the above poster, I wouldn't say that any of those subjects have 'supa' scaling (except 3U Maths).

I got 81.00, and did nothing all year.

I'm also a hot white girl. Does that mean I'm going to get a UAI of 81 without any study?

    Scaling In General Maths

He is referring to an internal mark which is your RAW internal marks. The Board of Studies will moderate these marks depending on your cohort's performance in the External Examinations to make it fair for students who go to schools which mark uber hard or uber easy.

    Making up case studies

With Business Studies, it's pretty much common sense that you can make things up as you go along and still sound correct. What I do is, I use a real business, try and remember what I can and if I can't, I'll just make up shit for that part. It's not that hard. Just don't do a business like...

What mark are you expecting in 4 unit?

Re: 回复: Re: What mark are you expecting in 4 unit? I'm aiming for 90 exactly. Anything over that, I'll be stoked. I had a friend who got 85 in 4U and that got counted over like a 92 in legal studies, so yeah, I'd be satisfied with anything over 80.

Re: study time I get quite similar results with both SAM and Einstein. However I still have some doubt that I'll get a UAI like that.

    HSC subject. General Maths.

General maths has scaling ~ 18-19, whereas Business Studies and Legal Studies has scaling ~ 25. So there is quite a significant difference.

    HSC subject. General Maths.

Most likely physics. Treat scaling like currency conversion. Some 'currency' is worth more than others, for example in this situation, physics is worth more than general maths.

    HSC subject. General Maths.

Yeah, that's true. Often it's too late but. I know with many of my friends, they were crap in Yr 10, but somehow ace General, so it's too late to go up. But yeah, general scales like shit.

    Uai.....

True, but it won't impact you greatly. The highest UAI possible might instead of being 100, be 99.95. It certainly won't impact you getting 95.

    High ranks, but LOW marks

Most schools which give hard exams are Catholic Schools (for the trials), selective schools and private/independant schools. I've done a fair few public school papers and imo they aren't as difficult.

What does everyone think of business studies?

I actually enjoy business studies. Apart from Religion, it's my easiest subject, and I do enjoy it. You know what's a bitch though, the content (especially from case studies).
