    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive By going offtopic and losing marks i didn't mean that he'd lose marks for going off topic. I meant that he focused on the wrong thing and his answer provided little description of what the question was actually asking which is why he'd get a poor mark. I just...

    HSC 2012-2015 Chemistry Marathon (archive)

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive I agree. He wen offtopic which would cause him to lose marks. However i still believe that it'd be at least 2/5. I know HSC marking is harsh but.. not 1.. Ps. Anyone have the model answer for this question?

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Yeah, I personally highly doubt that they ask you specifically to for example say how to monitor nitrate levels because 99.5% of students won't know that and will probs make up stuff like AAS. However I think what that dot point wants students to do is to...

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive I hardly doubt that the quantitate test of nitrates is in the syllabus. Which dot point is it?

Isn't chem of art usually the highest scaling option?

lol. no they won't. Sleep well.

    UWS Medicine

They calculate your umat at a ratio of 1-1-0.5 and this year's cutoff for GWS was ~150 and for non-gws was 154 for an interview. Goodluck.

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Adding a diagram to this answer would guarantee you full marks.

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Correct answer. However I don't think an example is required unless the question asks you specifically to use an example. Apart from that everything is good.

    7 mark question in options!!

No. 1 written page would not be too much. I personally wrote 1.5 page for our trial (Chem of art) but my handwriting is quite big, so I reckon anything from 1/2 page to 1 page is good as long as you have covered everything.

    Band 5/6 cut off

I reckon it'll be 97 this year. The extended response was really easy. I wrote 15 pages.

can you use californium? since we have to know the equation anyway?

Sulfur dioxide contributing to acid rain equationz.

you only need the first one, realistically speaking. It's enough to show that it produces acid rain.

Is a 99.95 ATAR achievable with the following?

+1 i highly doubt that you can achieve 99.95 with the subjects you're doing. It is 'possible' but no one is really capable of it. You would need to be within the top 0.2% of state in all your subjects and that is EXTREMELY hard considering the subjects you're doing. goodluck anyway!

re: HSC Chemistry Marathon Archive Why doesn't changing the amount of solids in an equilibrium have any effect? I'm quite confused about this.

    ATAR estimate?

+1. It's very harsh marking for Bio,phys and chem. I got raw mark of 90 for biology in my trials which would be a very high band 6 but i know i can't reproduce it during the hsc exam because of the harsh marking. So never estimate your raw marks for chem/phys/bio until you've done the exam.
