what do you personally do/recomend to keep your PC at it's best?

Ashampoo WinOptimiser 2005. :) I use AVG, and I love it. So much leaner than resource-hog Norton... and N.U.G., I'd definitely get an anti-virus scanner. They're almost vital. AVG is an excellent, well supported scanner that's completely free. I highly recommend it. :) I_F

what do you personally do/recomend to keep your PC at it's best?

In addition to what you've listed, I run an optimising program similar to CrapCleaner once a month or so, as well as virus scan once a month. I_F

    $800 Cpu

128MB is perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it. VRAM size doesn't matter that much. 6600GT only comes with that much and everyone will agree that it's a great card. In my opinion the card would last maybe a few 'negative' months, it should have definitely been out of action a while back. It's...

    school scaling?

That is the plan, anyway. At least the upper half of my class is quite strong, so I shouldn't be affected as much. :) I_F

    Laptop Performance

The architecture (i.e. internal workings) of the Pentium M is excellent, and far more efficient than the architecture of the Pentium 4. Thus, Pentium Ms generally perform as well as Pentium 4s running at faster clockspeeds. I would be very surprised if a laptop running at 2.26 Ghz and 2GB of RAM...

Star Wars KOTOR I & II

I loved KOTOR I, but I was a little disappointed with KOTOR II, since its execution was sloppy in parts and the game overall was buggy. But KOTOR I is still my favourite RPG - I especially like the turn-based combat. I''m playing Morrowind at the moment, and I find its real-time combat so much...

    BOS Wiki?

Just a few questions. :) - Will anyone be allowed to edit a section in the wiki, or will only registered members be allowed to edit? - Will the Wiki be integrated into the BoS forums, as SAM is, or will it require users to create new accounts? I_F

Finding square roots of complex numbers

Either method should be equally acceptable in the exam. Both get you the correct answer, after all. :) EDIT: See you teacher if you need more help, but it's usually better to stick with the method you know better. I_F

Mountain.Dew, we know you really want to help people out, but upping threads that have been dead for a month probably isn't necessary. :) I_F

    school scaling?

To be short and sweet, unfortunately your UAI will pulled down depending on how everyone else went in your year. e.g if alot of the students got very low marks in a school, and a student that performed decently, say got 70s, 80s in his/her subjects, his/her UAI will be affected quite...

    $800 Cpu

Firstly, how big is the hard drive? 2.8ghz 800fsb 2m cache L2 The only processor available with those specs is the dual-core Pentium D 820, like Templar said. fx5200 pro - 128meg For this reason alone, the computer is not worth it. If you want to game, you'll only get a year or...

    The Importance of Scaling

The nuances of scaling aren't really known to many outside the Board of Studies and Universities Admissions Centre. The scaling chart is also some years out of date, as scaling changes from year to year based on how well each year does. Suffice it to say that subjects with a +21 in 2004 scaled...

    The Importance of Scaling

Just because you've done well in Maths comps doesn't mean that you should explicitly do a subject, although with those result I would recommend you keep Maths Ext. 1. However, the first consideration should be that YOU want to do the subject. If you like Maths and want to do Maths Ext. 1, then...

    Ext1maths Vs Advanced Maths

It depends really on how badly you did in MEX1 and how committed you are to raising your mark. If you don't want to do the subject, drop it. If you do, however, want to put the effort in and lift your mark, keep it for as long as you can. That's probably the best advice I can give. I_F
