To do a law based uni course?!

The law part. Jobs are thin on the ground and work conditions are horrible. Psych is a problematic degree too because without a Masters qualification you can't practice. Entry to Masters is competitive, and without it, you've got a useless degree. It's harder and harder to get jobs in...

To do a law based uni course?!

    Don't do it.

Law at UTS (via direct entry) or UNSW (via internal transfer)

I'd suggest UTS if they still bundle their practical legal training with their law degree. That saves you $10,000. For those not in the know, practical legal education (PLT) is a 6 month course you have to do to be admitted to practice as a solicitor. To people thinking along the same lines as...

    PLT Providers!

It doesn't matter, most recruiters don't even want to see your certificate from the course, they just want to see your admission certificate. That being said, some courses make it easier for you. Pick one that's mostly online and involves the least amount of effort.

    Faith in humanity...

Right in the feels. It's good to see 12 year olds are signing up here to get their study on.

    Information on Accommodation

Give the college a ring. Burgmann and Johns aren't owned by the university, and when I applied (this was 10 years ago mind you) Johns sent out their offer first. Don't worry too much about it though. You'll have a good time at any of the Daley Road colleges. Ed: Heh. Confused by the sticky...

Future prospects for Australian Law students and graduates?

5,000 graduates per year entering a profession of 60,000. Seems bad.

Not restored. As the former king of this subforum I am sorely disappoint.

Does the university you go to really matter?

Eh, I've worked at a big firm. I'd have a hard time choosing if I had my time over. UTS has a free inbuilt PLT course, which saves me $10,000, but an ugly campus. What do? Realistically only a minority of a minority of graduates end up working at a large firm. If that's something you aspire to...

Law graduates - what are you doing now?

I practised for a few years. Retraining at the moment. I'm at the other end of what you think is the final step, when people start bowing out as they hit their 30's.

Do the ANU course, it's fast and involves minimal effort.

How tough and demanding is law?

Law is a piece of piss to pass. Law students just like to whine about how difficult it is to make themselves feel special. It's harder to get the higher marks because most law schools distribute their scores along a bellcurve, so if 50 Michael Kirbys took a Foundations of Australian Law class...

    Should i pursue law?

I'm not going to even read your initial post. The answer is no. The job market is shit, your colleagues will be shit, the pay is shit. If your parents are pressuring you to do law for the prestige tell them you're going to be a doctor. If you want to earn money and get out of university as...

    Career prospects Law/Commerce degree?

Look, if you like media and entertainment (who doesn't though) you could end up working in either an in-house accounting/financial/legal role or as an IP lawyer. While it's nice to have a goal and interests. That's not how law works. You land wherever you land, and then work on whatever you get...

ANU - Which College is best for me?

College doesn't matter, the Daley road colleges are all pretty much the same. The Unilodges aren't colleges, they're overpriced, shared apartments.

    Student "polarized" politics

University politics is about as important as highschool politics, but the students just seem to think that it's super important. Just ignore it. Or sit on the sidelines and throw things.

Keep Calm Abbott is not PM

The left love to construct narratives around right wing politicians that portray them as being racists, misogynists, academic lightweights and homophobes. Tell me, does that stem from the strange sense of moral superiority that nearly all people on the far left have?

    the public sector

The APS is a good place to start your career, the working conditions are fairly flexible and managers are more often than not friendly and supportive. You need to be careful in choosing your department though. Some departments have rancorous corporate cultures, much like some private sector...

    Rift

Hi guys, Yes, I haven't been here in a while. I'm here because I've been suckered in by a clever pyramid scheme. I've been playing Rift, a new MMO, and the bastards are offering a free mount to people who can get three friends to buy the game. I'll get credited if you buy the game after...

    Homosexuality in Australia
