    ANU - B commerce

The UAI at ANU for commerce isn't based on supply and demand. Most courses at ANU (finance, actuarial, international relations and law being exceptions) have their UAIs set by the university prior to results being released. That's why the university can offer a guaranteed place to people who...

    Ensuite bathroom accomodation

Ah yeah, I forgot about that. They are building a smaller shipping container block which will be part of Ursula, but I think that will be for later year undergraduates only.

    Law school rankings

We have lecture recordings for all subjects at ANU. I think lecturers need to make concessions to students who work full time where anything beyond a few hours of compulsory tutorials per week would clash with their employment. As much as many people want to go to class, they also need to pay...

    JD vs LLB

At ANU JDs do the same compulsory and elective courses as undergraduates. However, they also have to do a certain amount of special, JD exclusive research courses. I'm not sure how many they have to do, but a friend of mine has done courses in European Union Law and Advanced Corporate law for...

Will Australia ever have an Aboriginal Prime Minister

It really isn't. The Constitution is primarily concerned with assigning powers to the states and federal government and creating the organs of federal government i.e. the senate, the legislative assembly, the judiciary and the executive. Read the Constitution. You could try to claim that our...

Rudd to allow universities to force students to pay union "fees"

Didn't we have this debate three years ago?

Will Australia ever have an Aboriginal Prime Minister

The Constitution is founded on Christian values? Tell me, would I be able to find these values in the Parliamentary, Executive or Judicial sections? I just skimmed through the States section but I don't think that the Bible was particularly concerned with federalism.

Has anyone here gone to an Ivy League University?

Why? I know a few people who've gone on exchanges to Yale who are probably BoS members.

    Ensuite bathroom accomodation

    - Self catered rooms with an ensuite and a kitchen are available at Bruce Hall in the Packard Wing for third year undergraduates and above and postgraduates for $190 p/w. There are limited amounts of rooms with ensuites on the catered side. Some rooms at Bruce like mine are veritable rabbit...

    Summer clerkships

I've got a confirmed internship. It isn't at a law firm, but at least it isn't like I'm missing out completely. *sighface*

    Summer School

I'm doing law summer school this year and I also did it last year. They HECS Summer law courses and they also run alot of unique courses over the break that you wouldn't otherwise be able to do during semester. It's a good deal IMO :)

    Summer clerkships

I know some government departments like the ACCC really reduced their graduate intake this year.

    Summer clerkships

I got a few Big 6 interviews, but looks like no clerking for me at a law firm this Summer. Government departments are still to come though :)

    Easiest/Hardest subjects

At ANU admin is the hardest subject in the entire degree, but that may just be because it's so poorly taught. My bet would be on property as the hardest subject on the list. I'd also put equity at the end of your degree, and after property, since equity is really just stitching together alot of...

cut off for flex entry law?

The only flexible entry scheme into law is EAS. If you get EAS, you get a 5 point lee-way on your UAI. There are no discounts for high english marks or if you write a letter, the UAC guide lies.

Can't decide between UNSW or USyd Com/Law

The Usyd building looks like a bookshelf full of leather-bound law tomes! Well, ANU's law building looks like a slave owner's mansion on a sugar plantation http://campusmap.anu.edu.au/display_image.asp?int_UploadId=7, so who am I to be critical? :p

    Law school rankings

I can't speak for Usyd, but UNSW takes alot of time to get to, particularly if you live in the South, West or North West and has compulsory tutorials, and a lot of them. Consequently, I can't imagine that I'd have much fun if I went to UNSW, since I'd spend most of time commuting between home...

    best law university

You get more law electives if you do straight law though. To be honest, if I had my time again I would have done a BA first and then a JD.
