    Bit of an issue regarding internal ranks.

    If you have ranked higher than other students and don't deserve it then THEY will most likely appeal against their ranks. It is most unusual for a student to appeal because their ranks are too high!

    It's always good if schools can avoid this. It can create animosity between the two students, especially if one student does badly and drags down the average.

    Yes, only like that for first and last. The students in between first and last share the remaining exam marks according to their ranks and the size of the gap between each pair of students.

    How do they moderate our raw marks...

    The student who is ranked first on internals is given a moderated assessment mark equal to the highest exam mark earned by the same school group.

    Nonsense. Moderation does NOT involve reallocating individual exam marks. The highest internal mark will be 92. Your internal will be lower, depending on the size of the gap between first and second on raw internals.

    How is the multiple choice section of an exam marked?

    A computer first attempts to mark the answers. If it detects any problems (two answers, writing outside the boxes etc) it sends the page to a human for marking.

    What happens if you miss an exam?

    If you miss an exam without a successful illness/misadventure appeal, you don't just get 0, the whole course is wiped from your HSC. If you fall below 10 units, no HSC.
