    Reading Time

Any attempt to put markings on the paper during reading time, whether with a pen or fingernail, is a breach of exam rules. You run the very real risk of being caught and reported to the board of studies. Is it really worth potential loss of your HSC?

    Attendance in year 12??

The Board does not specify a minimum attendance level. The Principal has to be satisfied that the student has demonstrated "diligence and sustained effort" in the course. Otherwise the Principal can make an N (non-completion) determination and the course does not count towards the HSC.There must...

"Student challenges ruling on her HSC"

The decision is in. She lost the case. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/not-high-enough-student-loses-appeal-over-9995-mark-20120703-21etp.html http://www.caselaw.nsw.gov.au/action/PJUDG?jgmtid=159477

what happens if you don't sit for your hsc external exams?

If you miss an examination without a valid reason, you don't just get 0. The entire course is cancelled, including the assessment mark. It is like you never started that course.

What happens when you change school now...Just curious

If you change schools up to 30 June, the new school is responsible for submitting your HSC assessment marks to the Board. If you change after 30 June, the old school is solely responsible for assessments. Whichever school is responsible, they will estimate any tasks you missed or may ask you to...

I think my raw marks are wrong (Appeal?)

Where part of the answer book is subjective, it's easier to double-mark the whole book. The fact you were awarded 2 by one marker and 3 by another means it is not "objective" anyway. Besides, there is no way for a marker to record a half-mark. If pen marking, they write the whole mark in a box...

HSC Result Check - Do they do anything?

You should ring the hsc hotline on 131 112 to discuss.

HSC Result Check - Do they do anything?

You cannot just add the individual marks and compare that to the total, which you seem to be doing. You have to account for optional question scaling: Once the marking operation is complete the marks awarded to a student for each question in an examination are added up to produce the students’...

    Worth Appealing??

What is there to appeal? You said you were ranked third which seems correct. The b.o.s. has an assessment rank appeal, but there is no assessment gap appeal. Perhaps call 131 112 and talk to b.o.s. about it.

    Appealing for recheck

If you genuinely believe something has not been marked then get a copy of your examination responses. http://studentsonline.bos.nsw.edu.au/go/myhsc/hsc_results/hsc_examination_responses/ Everything you get back will have been marked.

    Question on internal assesments.

Even if you did not sit MX1 you would still have a moderated internal assessment provided there were other students in the class. If you missed both MX1 and MX2, AND you were the only student in both courses, then the b.o.s. would have to work out an internal mark based on other information...

If student's mark's change, does everyone's ATAR change?

If there is a late change to assessment marks or examination marks, then the whole school group is remoderated. As a result, some students may get higher marks or ATAR. No-one's marks or ATAR can go down.

    Question on internal assesments.

Your assessment mark would be determined from your state rank on MX1 assessment compared to all the other MX2 students.

Is it possible I just got a really easy marker for a teacher?

The number of exceptional students in a particular year is irrelevant. The same standards apply each year. Also, marking is not down to one person. At least six different people marked your exams. If you did not do as well as expected, either your teacher marked internals too easily or you...

    Cost for HSC raw marks

Last year the "marks & answers" only became available in February, so you could still use FOI earlier. This year the opportunity starts right after the results come out.

I don't think you can access FOI when there is an alternative offer in place.
