What book do you use for 2U questions?

    More Curve Sketching

Yeah that's why I have a stack of Maths books that are as tall as Mt Everest, lol. But if I can't get Math in Focus' questions, then what chance do I have for other harder questions? I reckon they're absolutely crap for explaining theory. Coroneos FTW!

    More Curve Sketching

Yep, Maths in Focus has done it again. Their answers are wrong, like for nearly every single curve sketching question. The question however is correct. Funny thing is, that in their older version they printed the correct answers and in the newer ones they printed the wrong ones...

Yeah... and how exactly are you meant to get the solution x=0? :P Hair pulling is not fun, esp. cos this is 2U stuff... hahaha

    Eh? I've lost you... I get y''=(4x3+18x2+48x+24)/(x2-4)3 Obviously x=0 isn't a factor. So...?

lol, I can't figure it out. I get the 2nd derivative but you can't factorise it by x, therefore x=0 is not a factor. Yet there is a pt of inflexion at x=0... Unless of course if you're allowed to times both sides by x when y''=0, but that'd be cheating :P

Hey mate I think you made a mistake there... It think it should be -6x instead of -64.. I'm still pulling hairs on this one lol

Ahh yes, now I get it. I forgot that x=0 was a result. Thanks trebla. Lifesaver man!

    Servers

Yeah I did feel that the servers weren't fully optimized which is why I asked you. I've seen a forum with about 300-500 cocurrent users being run on a Celeron with 512MB RAM a few years ago.

Thank you for your help Trebla... But how do you know that the pt of inflexion is at x=0? Which rule states this?

    Servers

This site isn't that bad compared to others that I've seen in terms of activity. Are the servers' services seperated (ie. dedicated server for mysql and web)? What are the specs like?

    CityRail on brink of collapse

Do you have better knowledge about the CityRail rail system? For that matter, do you know anything, judging by the quality of all your (useless) posts. Yeah that may be good, except for the fact that the Illawara Line gets only Tangaras and S sets (the non a/c ones), whereas the East Hills line...

    CityRail on brink of collapse

Well, it would make more sense to terminate trains at East Hills or Kingsgrove. But as I said it's a whole other complicated story :P You could always take a train to Central and change for Town Hall :P

    CityRail on brink of collapse

I think the limit around CC is 40km/h... Signaling there allows for a 2 minute headway between trains. I haven't heard much about the Revesby turnback lately... I can't even see the point in building one there. But that's whole other story!

    More Curve Sketching

I'm pulling hairs with this one!!! I cannot seem to factorise the second derivative and cannot find the point of inflexion. There's meant to be one at x=0, but...?!?!?! Anyway, the question is: Sketch, showing any stationary points, points of inflexion or asymptotes: y=(2x+3)/(x2-4) Cheers

    CityRail on brink of collapse

The CityRail signalling system is very old. IIRC, it's based on technology from before 1950 or something. I could be wrong on the date, so don't quote me on that one. So obviously compared to newer technology, a further distance needs to be kept between each train, and this causes limitations...

    Aether Question

Yeah because now we know that 'c' is constant, so it wouldn't have worked anyway.

    Aether Question

Yep those are the ones that SuccessOne has IIRC.

    Aether Question

I think a feature of the aether model is that all electromagnetic waves travelled/propagated through it. A feature of the aether would be that it cannot be detected and that it's elastic (?) But I may be wrong, so someone please correct me. I'll lookup SuccessOne tomorrow.

    Opinions on dropping General.

Honestly, how can you fail at General Maths, that stuff I could do with my eyes closed, lol. How much studying do you put into Maths?
