    Inverse trig functions

Thank you Trebla, Just one quick question though, in Q1 where did you get (x - π/4) from?

    Inverse trig functions

    Thanks for that. I have a few more questions. Would appreciate if you could assist me. Show that: 1) tan-14 - tan-1(3/5) = pi/4 2) tan-1(5/12) + cos-1(5/13) = pi/2 Evaluate the without aid of tables: 3) cos[sin-1(5/13)+sin-1(4/5)] 4) sin[2tan-1(4/3)] Thanks again!

What happens to ur 2 unit mark when u do ext 2?

No you don't do the paper. But without doing 2U you wont be able to do 4U, let alone 3U. The content of the 2U course is in both 3U and 4U, but with harder variations, if you like to put it that way. Therefore this is no point in testing 4U students on 2U material.

    Ellipse proof

Hi, Thanks for that. To use distance formula, how would I do that? I let P=(x,y) and S=(ae,0) and S'=(-ae,0) So therefore PS+PS'=2a So DPS=sqrt((x-ae)2+y2) I do the same thing for PS'. How would I simplify them from the square root, so that I can add them together? I know it sounds pretty...

    Ellipse proof

Using cartesian coordinates, show that the sum of the distances from any point P on the ellipse x2/a2+y2/b2 = 1 to the two foci is equal to 2a. Thanks alot if you can help me.

What happens to ur 2 unit mark when u do ext 2?

Well, I'm doing Ext 2 Maths, and I did the 2U Series and Sequence HSC assessment and got 2nd/75 (was 1 mark off 1st!!), shame it wont count. You did Series in your prelim? I thought it was HSC topic. What topic did they swap it for? I actually like Series and Sequence to be honest, nice topic.

What happens to ur 2 unit mark when u do ext 2?

If you do 4 unit (Ext 2) Maths your Ext 1 and Ext 2 component becomes the value of 2 units each, which equals 4 units in total. The Ext 2 people sit the external examination as the same time as the 2U people, so no they do not do the 2U paper. The reason why they don't make the Ext 2 people...

They boast to make you jealous, and so far I think it's working ;)

    Induced EMF and Lenz's Law

Hello, I'm trying to get my head around Lenz's law. And so far, I'm yet to figure out when it applies. When you move a conductor through a magnetic field, the direction of current is given by the right hand motor rule or push rule. But when I tried doing questions asking where the induced...

Lol, I actually wanted the ones for USyd. But anyhow, looks like I'll have to do an estimate based on the UNSW ones.

Re: Can't find a tutor for SDD? Online + Phone SDD Tutoring Available :D (Plus 2U Mat Zvyx, Since you have now explained yourself. I feel that you may have been a bit naive in your approach to posting your tutoring services, and that I have been a bit too harsh, now that we see it. I will now...

    Finding area underneath Log/In graph

The formula probably wont work if there's a question involving delayed repayments. Like no repayments for the first 6 months. Interest still accumulates, though, so it get a little complicated. But for the 'straightforward' ones the formulas should work.

    Finding area underneath Log/In graph

There is, look on the General Maths formula sheet. I asked my teacher if we could use it, and he said that if we did, then we wouldn't get full marks as it'd be too easy.

    Mind & Morality

We were offered this in Year 10 or something. Don't think anyone took it up though :P It may be worth doing though, as you get 6 credit points or something if you decide study there in uni. Interesting, what do their libraries have?
