    Choosing a university

USYD is really theoretical whilst UNSW is a more of a mix of both theory and pratical. UTS places heavy emphasis on the practical part. Usyds facilities are really old whilst UNSW and UTS have relatively new facilities (especially UTS).

    Electrical/chemical/biomedical engineering

Job opportunities in Australia currently for these engineering majors are electrical>chemical>>>biomedical. Also, I wouldn't really recommend doing masters straight after bachelors especially for someone with no work experience as employers generally down on these kinda things. As for what...

    General Maths and Software Engineering?

GG engineering. Yes, but the maths you encounter will come at a bit of a shock to you if dropped - as in completely new language kinda shocked. Difficulty (as in level of thinking involved) isn't 4U (unless you do adv or something similar) but much of content is i.e. complex numbers...

    English Advanced or Standard

Just do advanced. The difficulty of standard has been upped continuously for the past few years to the point were the complexity of essay questions have become on par with that of its advanced counterpart.

Is private tutoring for USYD units common?

No, it wouldn't be weird. What? Are you sure you know what you're doing? 4th year subjects as a prerequisite to 2nd year subjects? Also shouldn't you've already done math1013 and math1014 in first year (unless you failed-then you're in for a good time in engineering). I highly doubt they would...

BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING OR MEDICAL SCIENCE? Career prospects? course difficulty?

That's in America, where the job market for biomedical engineering is FAR stronger than in Australia. Mechanical engineers can also work in the biomedical industry since it's so broad.

Modern history vs society and culture?

There is a heavy emphasis on love, seriously, trials and HSC exams for modern are pretty much essay writing marathons.

WRIT1001 - Writing and Rhetoric: Academic Essays Ease: 8/10 Almost like HSC English (adv), except you got to choose what you write and how you wrote it. Everyone was pretty much given full marks for the first 5% of the course no matter how bad your essay was and another 5% was for the academic...

    Transferring into UNSW com?

Can't you apply for credit for the subjects that you've already completed? Minimum WAM for any UNSW course is 65+ (including arts). What about dropping the engineering part your degree and concentrating on getting a good WAM for commerce then transfer to UNSW commerce instead?

Can I go on exchange for more than a year/two semesters?

Yes, sometimes in places like the UK where they run the semesters differently you'll have to go for two-semesters. Some unis allow you to file a request to stay for another semester if possible. UTS has a degree called international studies where you can combine it with another degree where you...
