    conics question- locus problem

xy=c^2 let the set of parallel chords have common gradient m. For a secant (chord extended) with Y-intercept b the equation of the line is y= mx+b this secant cut the rectangular hyperbolar at the solutions to the system of 2 equations, which also represents the extremities of the...

    HSC Tips - Conics

    - parametric form allows you to work witha single variable in trig form, cartesian form allows you to work with two variables satisfying a set of conditions. use parametric form if you are stuck. - the sum of the roots of (x^2 + ax + b=0) is -a. You might not need to solve equations. Eg...

Okay ... *breathes* ... Okay *breathes* Okay ... *hyperventilates*

you should: Go through the concepts. don't spend too much time though. Practice your algebra and Calculus - This is the real reason for most people doing badly. Do some papers under exam conditions to see what problems you have and focus on these problems.

    Q. Resisted Motion

    Alternative solution without integration: (1) find k. by your given conditions we have -g = -k/R^2 k = gR^2 (2)show that E=[(v^2)/2 - k/x ] for the particle is a constant. dE/dt = [v * dv/dt ]- [ (-k/x^2)* dx/dt ] = [v*a - a*v] // a is the acceleration. = 0...

How many people are doing 4 Unit

answering the second question, I think less is better because the teacher can give you individual attention and the small group of people tend to achieve a better average HSC mark than a large group.

    question

the chord subtends an angle of Pi/3 (60 degrees) at the center. This could be seen by joining the 2 extremities of the chord to the center and a equilateral triangle is formed the area of the major segment = area of major sector + triangle = (1/2)(5Pi/3) * r^2 + (1/2)(sin Pi/3)*r^2 =...

    Maths Rules Wanted!

    1. The rules you want do not exist, Try to do things without thinking of rules, the best students are confident of what they write not because they are sticking to a prepared method, but rather they understand what they are doing. 2. Understand everything, it's not in the spirit of...

    HSC Tips - Complex Numbers

    - Know how to do arithmetic with complex numbers: -- Using conjugates (eg for division, expanding) -- Using roots of unity to find ALL nth roots -- Using the polar form (mod/arg) -- |xy| =|x||y| -- arg(xy) = arg(x) + arg(y) -- "multiply the modulus, add the arguments" - Translate...
