It means that you are guaranteed to have your moderated assessment mark set equal to the top examination mark from your class. :) You are effectively immune to the performance of your classmates - they cannot, for example, 'pull you down'. If you're also the one who happens to attain that top...

    Best English Units?

Your best two units of English are compulsorily included - this could be both Extensions, or just Advanced, or one Extension and half of Advanced, etc. If your remaining two units of English also happen to be in your top eight, then they'll be included as well.

do we need to bring some sort of ID number for exams?

You need your student number and centre number (which is just a code for your school). Both should be provided for you. (This wasn't the appropriate forum.)

    Looking at exemplars

The responses were written by students who sat the actual HSC exams. The Board publishes them in standards packages. Exemplar responses scored full marks - 100%. Responses marked as band 5/6 scored 90. If you can do better, you'll score higher. :)

    Question, urgent

Mishka is correct. The '4 subjects' rule only goes to eligibility - once you're eligible for a UAI, it doesn't matter anymore. So you'll have your top two units of English count, and then your next best eight units.

how does ext 2 english scale?

<!----> SAM certainly isn't that inaccurate, and I'd encourage you to provide data to prove me wrong if you speak the truth. http://www.boredofstudies.org/scaledmeans.php I believe it scales quite well - twice as well as physics or chemistry, for example. It's not the highest scaling...

    Appeal for an assesment task

The Board cannot (or does not) review the actual marks awarded. It can only review the investigation carried out by your Principal, and whether your appeal was handled fairly.
