    Neutralisation as a proton-transfer reaction

HCl + NH3 → NH4+ + Cl- The H+ is transferred from the HCl molecule to the ammonia molecule forming ammonium. I don't see how neutralisation is a good example of a proton-transfer reaction, unless you use the one above which does not produce water and therefore probably wouldn't make a good...

    Dilemma

Haha, I know that feeling only too well, and I've been with him for 2 years. :p I talk to my boyfriend a few times every day. He's always encouraging me to study. I feel like a major bludger if I chat all day, and I love it when he's proud of me, so I guess that's my motivation...

    Probability HELP

I guess you're asking the wrong two people. :p Does the answer section explain how you get the answer? Hmm, the 6! is the arrangement of the non-E letters, the 7C3 is the number of combinations of 3 letters from 7. Exactly which 7? And the 3! must be the number of arrangements for the E's.

    Chemistry Debates

You know why it makes no sense? Because limewater is calcium hydroxide. :p Calcium carbonate is found in limestone. It is a white precipitate. When carbon dioxide is present in the clear Ca(OH)2 solution, it reacts with the calcium hydroxide: Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) → CaCO3(s) + H2O(l)...

    HSC Prep- (from prelim)

Yes, it would be a good idea to do some revision questions. Preliminary stuff is assumed knowledge in year 12, so it won't do to forget it all.

Which NOx is smog and how does it form from NO2

    NO2 leads to the formation of photochemical smog. NO2 + sunlight → NO + O, then O + O2 → O3 NO2 + O2 + carbon compounds + sunlight → PAN PANs are peroxyacyl nitrates. The simplest PAN is peroxyacetylnitrate, CH3CO-OO-NO2.

    maths questions

    2. Find any x values for which the gradient of the tangent to the curve y=x^2-3x-1 is parallel to the line x-2y-1=0 2y = x - 1 y = x/2 - 1/2 . : m = 1/2 y = x2 - 3x - 1 y' = 2x - 3 It is parallel to x - 2y - 1 = 0, therefore m = 1/2 1/2 = 2x - 3 1/2 + 3 = 2x x = 7/4
