I did Q10b of the 2010 Sydney Grammar trial yesterday and it was a VERY similar question which required the same approach and making similar triangles seemed the most straight forward way of eliminating 'y'.
The semi circle is not defined in third quadrant so you only need to have it in the first two, where its all of the second and that top left half of the first
95-97 raw. Hoping 95 aligns to at least 96 seeing as though it was a fairly easy paper.
Screwed up last bit of the finance Q + my integration in the volume Q of Q16.
Yep agree with all those answers, just cant remember what i put down for 14 in the exam, i remember i was tossing between C and D, think i might have gone with D but i remember i changed that answer so not sure which way i went. Still should get at least 19/20 and am happy with that since MC is...
Yes but the amount it moves gets progressively smaller as you go higher up with marks. So for the 97+ HSC marks you almost need those actual raw marks.
These were the marks from last year.
93 (raw) --> 96 (aligned)
88 (raw) --> 93 (aligned)
84 (raw) --> 91 (aligned)
75 (raw) --> 85 (aligned)
Hoping and fingers crossed but really no way of knowing as just a mark here or there or a couple dodgy MC could mean you miss out. Managed to get 97 raw in trials so hoping i can pull another really high mark but i guess we will see.
last years cut off was 83-84, guessing this year should be around the same possibly 82-83 seeing as might've been relatively a more difficult exam compared to previous years
Hopefully that works in our favour with better aligning of raw marks-->HSC marks but i agree the raw marks may possibly be lower this year as people may have misinterpreted the core 2 8 marker or struggled with the improving performance questions.
Nice exam! Core short answer had some odd questions but once i got my head around what they were asking/what sections of the syllabus it was quite easy. The rest were quite generic and straightforward. Multiple choice had a couple which could go either way but i just went with my instincts of...
After reading this http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/~khachan/PTF/Superconductivity.pdf i'm a bit confused over which way i should go about answering a possible question where they may potentially ask to draw a diagram.
Basically it says "Note that the explanation and pictorial representation of a...
Haha thanks man. Tbh the half yearly was easier than HSC standard as the calculation questions were mostly straight forward but otherwise i feel like the response questions were fairly marked
School rank: Our year is the first partially selective cohort so we are much stronger than the previous cohorts who generally ranked around the 300 mark (last year ~250). Therefore i'm not really sure where we are so i know this makes estimating a bit difficult.
Ranks and (exam marks):
Advanced...
Half yearly. That's the thing i'm not quite sure why you need to take the earth as the F.O.R as it is not explicitly suggested in the question and is phrased pretty much like most other GPE questions where the graph for D would be used.
Hi,
Could someone please explain why B is the supposedly correct answer and not D. The explanation was that reference is taken from the Earth's centre but from my understanding of GPE, a point at infinity is taken to be 0.
Thanks
iirc, water only partially dissolves these in small amounts as they are very small and so they are sparingly soluble. This is because of the fact that they are small molecules and hence have weak dispersion forces in comparison to larger non-polar molecules and so water is able to overcome the...
