    Am inforced to repeat

N awards or N award warnings? Either way you really should be doing your assignments. Make sure you are submitting every assignment from now on on time. I think you can possibly progress from Y9 to Y10 with N awards, but that's almost always not the case for Y10 to Y11.

    Subject selection advice/Sci Ext

Thanks that's some useful insight. I still have a year to fully decide on sci ext so I think I'll see how I go in terms of workload next year and see if it would be viable for me to do it. I'm a little confused abt the assessments for it. If the report itself isn't marked then is the external...

What strategies do you guys use to memorise content?

Exam style questions (for those with poor past paper availability/quality I write other general questions down in a spreadsheet making reference to parts of my normal notes) FWIW (I use Anki) I have a subdeck with big cards when I'm just generally more interested in how something works and not...

What strategies do you guys use to memorise content?

I do agree that is a very easy trap to fall into. However in terms of studying for school that's why I was saying "as long as you are obviously doing other forms of revision" for me exam style questions are a better way of formulating this knowledge together than chunky cards. To be clear...

What strategies do you guys use to memorise content?

wrt flashcards I am a bit of a flashcard enthusiast myself - while i'm not doing senior content-heavy subjects yet i think this still applies. The Minimum Information Principle involves making sure each Q/A pair only relates to one piece of information. If you apply this to flashcards you get...

    Self teaching maths viable?

lol I'm doing y11 math rn and my school uses cambridge. I have a love-hate relationship with it haha. The explanations are top-notch and everything is explained/proved from existing knowledge which really helps me but some of the questions are absolutely crazy (super tedious/require some hidden...

    Self teaching maths viable?

which uni. @jimmysmith560 was saying in another thread UNSW has bridging courses and only assumed knowledge which is like not necessarily compulsory and usyd has prerequisites which you have to do and you're stuck there

I hear that english standard has significantly worse scaling than advanced which is pretty likely to drag down your ATAR

    Subject selection advice/Sci Ext

From my experience this year, the work in MX1 (1 unit) I spend about the same time as on as MAdv (2 units), I would expect that MX2 take even more time (for the 1 unit), would anyone know around how much that would be out of interest.

    Subject selection advice/Sci Ext

hey all, As it is now subject selection time I have been looking at what I want to do over the next two years. Aiming for UNSW CompSci (hopefully some form of scholarship also). Currently Currently I am doing accelerated math extension 1 (prelims this year, HSC next year). My current thoughts...

Summary of what Gladys has said this morning for you guys: - Y12 face to face learning recommences on Monday 16th August - If you live in the 8 LGAs of hotspot; then vaccinations will be occuring with Pfizer for you (seemingly before return to school but that is unclear) - Antigen testing has...

    Lockdown extension

Yoooo I was just literally a couple of hrs ago chatting to my brother saying I reckon they'll do some kind of measures such as required testing for Y12 to allow them to go to school. Good luck all who as a result are likely to have trials soon & hope that your return to school is helpful

    Procrastination

Personally <3 Podmodro, set a timer (normally for 25 minutes), and force yourself to study for just 25 minutes. Then take a 2-3 minute break, and repeat; give yourself longer breaks after a few of these sessions.

    changing courses

I might be wrong, but as I understand it, to "satisfactorily complete the new course", you need to complete all assessments. How would you complete the assessments completed in terms 1 and 2? You would have to come up to speed on a lot of prelim content, very quickly. Doesn't sound recommended...
