    Melb vs Monash

Hmm well from this year onwards, that is the only option at UoM, since they are dismissing the B Engineering system, to my great disgust (I'm the last intake). But yes, if you are not completely sure then BSci would be perfect as it can lead to so many different streams (e.g. Mathematical...

    parmetrics 2007 hsc question

    Sub in (2aq, aq^2) (2aq)-p(aq^2)-2ap-ap^3=0 2aq-apq^2-2ap-ap^3=0 2q+pq^2-2p-p^3=0 2(p-q)+p(q^2-p^2) 2(q-p)+p(q-p)(q+p)=0 (q-p)[2+p(p+q)]=0 2+pq+p^2=0 ii) OP and OQ are perpendicular [Mop x Moq=-1] p/2 x q/2=-1 therefore pq=-4 sub into i) p^2-4+2=0 therefore p^2=2 as required

    Melb vs Monash

I would say go to Monast since it's much more convenient. Education is what you make it. Both unis are highly reputable and Go8. Also depends on what course you are studying? what are you doing?

So, most people despise my hair.

If you're that worried, buy a hair straightner (baby sized ones).

    Ex's

I kinda have. Except it's the kind of friendship where every now and again we sneak in comments about our new gf/bf and how good they are (ie. how much better we are now) lol e.g Gf might be at a party without me, i'll be like "nah it's ok, i completely trust her, SHE wouldn't do anything to...

    Proving De Moivre's

Well i mean't it's the fastest way to find the sin3x and cos3x results. It wouldn't be considered as necessary working, I think if you said: "Consider cos3x= whatever it is", then that would be fine. I don't think it would be considered as part of the proof, it's a pretty well known result.

    Proving De Moivre's

Binomial method would be alot less tedious than induction method. Besides, doesn't take long to find triple angle result, especially when using complex numbers.

Hey Anna. Well because at Uni of Melb the first year doesn't really specify, i've still got both options open. You get one Science Elective (Chem, Physics etc) I chose physics (adv) so that kinda pushes me towards Civil, Electrical or Mechanical. 99% sure i will do civil though! Having spent...

    Mathematics Extension 1

Hmm that's the proof i would have used. That's just an algebriac proof. Yours makes an assumption of the proof, it's not really that correct, i can't really explain, but it's not a complete derivation.

    Some extremely strange physics questions!

Q1) Draw a diagram, showing dimensions. Use S=d/t. Use the a-v relationship of a=(Vf-Vi)/t Vf=Vi+at (Projectile motion formula) I'll do it tomorrow if no '10ers have solved it.
