How do you feel after an exam??

Nervous In anticipation of your marks, often, you're under the impression that you did a good job with an exam, only to find out that you failed when it returns. There's like a turnaround period of approx 2 weeks, but on top of the holidays, it's 4 weeks! Four weeks of agony!

    Do you like english

But it wouldn't be English if you didn't have to write or analyse. Though I do admit that in many circumstances in English, you do tend to make things up. But the fact is that English is driven by one's opinion. If you're able to portray this in a sophisticated manner, you're basically fine.

    Anyone do Extension English?

The 'Nature of Evil' - a highly philosophical topic in EE1 - texts involved Conrad's "Heart of Darkness", Ford Coppola's film, "Apocalypse Now" and Eliot's poem, "The Hollow Men". I really should continue this with EE2 - simply love this topic. It's a shame, really... considering that the HSC...

    your favourite science!

Biology - esp. the HSC course which is primarily focused on the human being. Physics is fine... except for those mind-boggling calculations. Chemistry would be great if the teacher wasn't so stagnated in himself. But all in all, Science is perhaps the only subject that can provide or develop...

    Do you like english

I personally don't enjoy creative writing - my marks fluctuate consistently, based on creative writing. I achieved 14/15 for a recent story as part of an assessment task. On the other-hand, as an in class task, I achieved 8/15 which is obviously shocking. I'd say that my primary interest in...

When given an assignment that requires researching....

Well... I guess not... but often, you get the odd person who defies all the odds and does it.

When given an assignment that requires researching....

Probably means that Wikipedia should be excluded from your resources - shouldn't even be a last resort.

Now it's my turn to worry about subject selections. :)

EE2 could potentially be rewarding, not in terms of the HSC, but for the individual. But it ultimately depends on your choice of study. Individuals must remember that sleep is integral for all - failure to adhere to warning signs of sleep deprivation can often lead to poor immune systems if...

When given an assignment that requires researching....

Books (Encyclopedias) then the net. When it come to research for assignments, I forbid myself from using Wikipedia. According to my schoolmates, for an SOR assignment, a fair few relied heavily on Wikipedia. Little did they know that the information presented was irrelevant, perhaps false. God...

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

I haven't started reading it, but one of the prescribed texts for EE1 is Dune. Given the bible-like thickness of the novel and its Star Wars-like sequence, I'm gonna die reading this mumbo jumbo.

Preliminary HSC Yearly Exams Thoughts & Results

That's a pretty short turnaround period. Over at my school, it usually would take 1.5 weeks minimum to 2 weeks.

how would u improve english marks?

I tried using second person narrative in my recent English AOS exam - an absolute failure! As for essays, practise writing introductions - this is what is meant to entice the marker into further reading your essay. Also, you may want to practise essay structure and perhaps how to integrate your...

    Shakespeare-Favourite play!!!

Macbeth was fine, as is the same with Othello. Yr 12: As You Like It - whatever that's about.

    Holidays before year 12?

Re: 回复: Re: holiday study Planning on self study - download the syllabi, borrow a million books from the library (not really, it's capped at 6 HSC titles) and slowly learn the first few topics - to provide me with background knowledge. 'Tutoring' has taken a whole new level of meaning. In may...

worst/best english novel you have ever read in school?

John Le Carre's "Smiley's People" - extremely confusing to read. Adeline Mah's "Chinese Cinderella" is a good read. I wouldn't call it a favourite, but Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" is a revelation of the nature of humans. Its imagery simply captures the essence of English, thus being a...

Preliminary HSC Yearly Exams Thoughts & Results

Did Chemistry today. The paper was pathetic. It was meant to be a three hour exam. Nearly everyone completed it well within 1.5 hours. Further, the content was shocking. I've spent so much time studying for this exam, and only 2% of what I studied was actually in the exam. What was anticipated...

How many days have you taken of from school?

None, so far. Ironic when juxtaposed to junior high school - I've essentially lost count, so it's n absences in the past. n= ~52399711420

Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides for Preliminary HSC?

Re: Recommended Texbooks/Study Guides? Because the AOS for the HSC has been revamped, I wonder if Excel or the like will churn out something.

Now it's my turn to worry about subject selections. :)

HSC Biology is somewhat interesting... you'll definitely regret dropping it - despite the relatively low scaling that it is associated with.
