its called technology, different engine designs, makes them more efficient. the technology from the 4cylinder camry is quite old. i think its quite possible that the aurion will do 9.9litre or VERY close to it. good on toyota.
lower tyre pressure = more contact with the ground = more grip.
so more tyre pressure will equal less contact with the ground = less strain on the car which leads to better fuel economy...
to find a happy medium you just have to fiddle around with the pressures. even 1 or 2 psi can make a...

i've gotten cars resprayed from bottom up for $2k. mint job... 8k is waaaaay overboard i think you should of shopped around. i mean would of cost $5k at the most... but geez $8000!!
