Last month's elections reminded me of the 2004 federal elections, in my opinion. Peter Debnam is like Mark Latham in some ways.
-during campaigns, they were both accused of being poor handlers of the economy.
-they were relatively new when they were opposition leaders at the elections
-they both lost their jobs as leaders of their party soon after they lost in the elections.

The book is about Levitt's opinion as a professional, it isnt an essay or journal article that needs to be quoting statistics and crap. If you want to find out his sources then look up some articles he has written.
