no.

from a roosters standpoint, we were essentially rewarded for losing first week.

elsewise we would've verused manly, an indisputably harder team than sharks.

edit: also, sharks will have a choice of either ANZ or SFS for the stadium. since SFS is roosters homeground, they'll pick ANZ.
No
We were not rewarded for losing in the first week. If we had won, and all other results were the same, we'd be playing Canberra at the SFS, rather than the Sharks. Canberra finished 6th in the regular season, Cronulla finished 3rd.
The Sharks will not have a choice of where to play. The NRL decides where the game will be held.

It was announced on FOX NEWS that Sharks do have a say in the matter of either. Either way, i'm pretty sure it'll end up at ANZ, as opposed to SFS ;(.

I just checked a finals calculator and your exactly right about the raiders, thanks for pointing that out. that would've been much more preferable than the sharks tbh.

on the flip side, however, there is still a weakness in the system. the sharks still don't recieve any real incentive for winning week 1 and will have to play away.

edit: I'm not complaining tho, fuck the sharks ;D all the better for the chooks.

Fuck me. Massive upset.

For the first time ever, 8 beats 1.

Warriors look really dangerous. Who do Melbourne play next week?

I put money on them a bit after half time, and after the melbourne field goal.

could've had a bigger return, but oh well.

lol weren't there articles about certain warriors players' farewell to the stadium in NZ, implying that they have no chance in hell of beating melbourne.

ray hadley on 2GB just said that the NRL had decided to play the sharks/roosters game at the SFS. it's all academic now of course, but it does highlight a bit of a flaw in the system. although i don't see why it couldn't have been played at ANZ.

what a game, that's crazy stuff. warriors deserved that win, good on them.

and what about this, broncos get to play melb for winning, and roosters get to play the warriors for losing - that's heaps fair. brisbane would be watching this game, going 'fk that shit'... got to love mcintyre system

Well the Broncos had to play the Storm sooner or later. Better now at suncorp rather than 2 games down the track in sydney.

Brisbane finished 5th, who do you want them to play, Souths?
A fucking amazing game this afternoon
I'm not too unhappy with the Roosters' draw though, the Warriors only have a 5 day turn around, and may find it hard to focus again after such an intense match. We also won pretty easily at Mount Smart earlier in the season

It is the fatal flaw with the McIntyre system though, rankings are discarded after week 1.
