if they're offering the tutorials/pracs both before and after the lecture then obviously they're taking it into account both ways and you won't be disadvantaged.

In that situation the way it will generally work is the material covered in week 1's lecture will be covered in week 2's prac and so on so everyone is equally as prepared for the tute work. Don't worry about that too much, if they've timetabled that way then it's an equally good option.

Yes, but a) you will piss the helpers off, b) you will piss yourself off after it takes you all day to do something you could've done at home.

I've got horror stories of kids who turn up with their UAC enrolment slip and ask what they do at 9am, and by 4pm are still trying to figure out which classes they want to do/can do.

They give you this information now to prepare and make it as painless for you, use that time to ask people here your questions, use the FAQ guides listed above these posts, or even call Student Enquiry Services for specific admin advice or email the relevant departments for academic advice.

By "it" I assume you're referring to the handbook? In any case, you obviously have to go to the classes listed in the timetable, so what the handbook says is sort of irrelevant.

?? You have to go to all the activities listed in the timetable... If the handbook has something different then I guess it's wrong.

Re: 2009 Macquarie Uni Offers

I emailed Marika Kalyuga and she said that I can only do units from the 2nd year not 3rd.
Anyway one of the units RSN240 is a Intermediate Residential Unit in Russia. I was wondering where I could find more information about it. For example- how much will it cost, does HECS cover it, where do they go, where do they stay etc

Re: 2009 Macquarie Uni Offers

Makes sense I guess, they want you to at least do SOME of their subjects :p

As for the overseas stuff, you can find the specifics in the lower half of the menus:

Department of International Studies - Russian
Thanks heaps.

I like that :

These units are four weeks long and they are specifically designed for non-native speakers of Russian.

Hmm I am a native speaker....

Haha I told Marika Kalyuga that I lived there for 12 years and that it's a spoken language at home so obviously its ok with her.
Do you know if it's possible for me to stay with my grandmother rather than the uni?? Cause the accommodation at Russian unis is pretty crap.

No idea sorry, you'd have to work that out with Marika and/or the uni in Russia, never been on one of these things :p

Fair enough. Well could you help me find where on earth I find out what subjects are recomended for 1st year B Commerce? Because i looked in the handbook but it doesnt really make sense to me and i just need some sort of recommended subjects to do.

I hate being confused lol

Re: 2009 Macquarie Uni Offers

Ok I think I get it. Basically we form a timetable based on our course's program + elective units to fit 12cp of subjects per semester? (36 hours - full time). Is this right? So 4 units per semester - is that right?

Well what major do you want to do? Do you want to be CPA accreditted, etc. It's kinda like asking, what subjects you'd do in an Arts degree, we don't really know if you don't tell us more information.
