Hi,

Im really confused about whether I should do 4U Maths or 3U Maths, my subjects currently are 3U Maths, Eng Adv, Bio, Chem, Phys and SOR 1U.

If I do 4U I'll most probably drop SOR 1U and do 12 units and if I do 3U I will keep the subjects I have currently.

The thing is that is it better in my situation to do 4U or 3U, and if I do 4U how much extra workload will I have.

My marks in maths in year 11 so far are:

2U test 1:96
2U test2: 96
3U test1: 89
3U test2: 86

and i got a 88 in SOR 1U

I go to a selective school, but its not one of the best,

Thanks for your time and help

You're doing really well in maths.

I think you should do 4U.

With the way you're going, hell yes. Do 4-unit. Chances are you'll ace the subject.

yep agree with the rest, and you can always drop down if you find it too hard.

How's the workload? Would you advise us to do do additional work (exercises from other textbooks) along with homework every day?

LOL.

Hark, I already told you. Do 4 unit!

Plus you already finish the 3 unit course by yourself - why not do it?

With the amount of work you putting in, you'll probably find it no trouble.

LOL. For the heck of it I'm going to compare my shit marks in maths to Hark to show you guys what our school is like.

2U test 1: 95
2U test2: 77

Half yearly ranking: 29/123

3U test1: 60
3U test2: 72

Half yearly ranking: 27/79

So to get 90's for 2 unit and 80's for 3 unit, you have to be really smart...

4u is a lot of work, takes time and effort to do well
do well the rewards are awesome, scaling is hectic
by ur results u look like 4u material
besides theres always the option of dropping it if u cant hack it

Cheers for that captain obvious, like all your other responses last night that was absolutely useless and you didn't add contribute anything everyone didn't already know from reading the other responses, or anything someone with a morsel of common sense wouldn't know. 4 unit maths is a lot of work? Well geez, colour me surprised.

Stop being so stupid - see the quote from you below? you're doing exactly that, except the threads you post in are filled with the exact same info you regurgitate.

Not that you need any more convincing - but nonetheless:
I recommend all Ext-1 students in Yr 11, especially those like yourself who are doing well, to at least try Ext-2. Just make sure that you have more than 11 units - so if you don't enjoy it or if you find it difficult, you are always in the position to withdrawl.

It is very important for you to consider how hard you have had to work to obtain these very good past results and whether you have enough reserved efforts to put towards Ext-2 maths in Yr 12. Although it is an extension course, remember that it is in fact a 2-unit subject and many would agree that it is much more demanding than the 2U & Ext-1 courses combined. Keep in mind that every subject gets progressively more demanding through Prelim to HSC, and this means that in Yr 12 you may need to work harder than you do now for all your subjects.

Good luck!

Hey cs.

Do you think I should do 4 unit with the marks I'm getting (see page 1)?
Marks:

2U test 1: 95
2U test2: 77

Half yearly ranking: 29/123

3U test1: 60
3U test2: 72

Half yearly ranking: 27/79

Definitely try it. You won't know until you get first-hand experience of 4U.
