Hey,

Intrestingly, the LHC - a particle accelerator at CERN will start smashing atoms to find this thing called a "Higgs Boson", however it may create micro black holes which could destroy the planet if the experiment doesnt go to plan!

You could read about it here http://en.rian.ru/world/20080805/115771418.html or just google up LHC.

Anyway, the date this experiment is to take place is the 21st of October, thats right the day AFTER we finish the second english paper! (Tuesday!)

Anyone reckon we should move the english papers to the end of the exams, that way we don't needlessly suffer if the world ends. English needs a lot of work and it would be too wasteful if we were to die the day after :p

Or should all the exams be moved, because how can we study with the thaught of the world coming to an end?

Are you serious? Science is about fiddling around and advancing. We were fine living in caves, but we just fiddled around.

"Obviously, the world will not end when the LHC switches on," Lyn Evans, the head of the project at CERN, said in June.

I agree with that.

Even if the microscopic black hole can form, it will be like sucking out Pacific Ocean from a hole the size of two fingers(got told this by a Physics lecturer from UNSW). We in Australia, will be safe.

scenario: Man1- "hey what did you get for your birthday?"
Man2 - "Nothing much, just a laptop, that's it."..."you?"
Man1 - "I got a nice big fucking black hole"
Man2 - "so you went to gaol?"
MAn1 - "NO! you idiot! some retarded scientist decided to 'test' a
nuclear collision on earth."
Man2 - "OH....that uh....sucks."

I know it wont kill us all, but you have to love the propaganda attempt.
