Yes, that is because the new zero is 50 in exam results. Very few people get below 50 then they get a shock at the UAI. Why is this so? Some time ago Mt Druitt had no students get over 44 in their results. The student's photo was printed on the front page of the telegraph with a heading saying they were failures. The students sued and won.

In my opinion the BOS made 50 the new zero so no one fails. The ranking is the same but instead of being squashed between 0 and 100 they are now ssuper quashed between 50-100, easy solution.

Teachers are advised to mark between 0-100 so when the student gets a better result for their HSC which is most of the time student and parents happy, no controversy, easy.
