It's the time for me to choose my subjects for year 11 and i love science a lot and i've been doing really good at it as well.
For me chemistry is a must but im conflicted on choosing either biology or physics. I only want to do 2 sciences because i think doing all three would be too much for me to handle.
So my question is:

Should i pick biology or physics? Why?
Which is more interesting?
AND
What do you learn in it?
Please HELP

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!! :D

Too much for you to handle? If your not doing three sciences, then your doing 2 sciences with another subject... So at the end your still doing the same units except different courses. It depends on what the other subject you take for missing out on one of the science, for example if you don't do biology and to compensate you do Economics, the workload would be the same if you basically did physics and biology. Since you like all three sciences I would say TAKE all 3. I also take 3 sciences and I don't regret it one bit

Can't say much for physics since I didn't do it however with biology

If you can get past the boring content of the year 11 course, you'll enjoy biology a lot.
Many people (including me) hated biology in year 11 and considered dropping it because not many people liked it. However I gave it a chance in year 12 and found the content a lot more interesting. I found that I actually wanted to study biology just because I enjoyed the content.

And if your not sure which one you'd rather do it may be possible to start of doing both of them (start on 14 units) and later dropping the one you like the least

Wow, was the year 11 content that bad? and im curious about year 12 bio because you enjoyed studying it. I HATE STUDYING LOL.
I heard there's a lot of memorization in Biology and does English help in bio?

But the thing is my school only allows 12 units :(
I wish they allowed 14 Units. Would have made it much more easier to pick

Re: Biology or Physics?

Doing 3 sciences isn't as bad/hard as you'd think.

You can always drop 1 science by the start of Year 12.

I only do Physics but I think it's pretty interesting (despite being a Social Science type of person)...

In preliminary there's:
1. The World Communicates (mainly to do with waves and their applications)
2. Electrical Energy in the Home (electricity)
3. Moving About (motion)
4. The Cosmic Engine (stuff about the universe, black body radiation, stars, types of emissions - alpha, beta, gamma)

HSC:
1. Space
2. Motors & Generators
3. Ideas to Implementation
4. Option topic - selected by school

Depends personally i'm more interested in the year 11 biology course as it has less 'human' biology in it then the year 12 course.
Bio has more rote learning then physics

English doesn't really directly 'help' in the sciences.

Being concise, clear and making sense helps though (skills that are developed through English).

I'd assume there's more memorisation involved in Biology than Physics.

Also, Physics isn't as mathematical as you may think. Most of the time, it's just punching values into your calculator for calculation questions rather than actual algebraic work and calculation questions make up little of the exam paper nowadays compared to written responses.

So in the end, Physics has memorisation involved as well... heaps of content to know..

I'd think it would be okay to do a science by correspondence

English doesn't really help, they're completely different subjects.

Some people liked year 11 bio, but I personally didn't really enjoy it.

You should just choose the one you like best (you would've done some physics-->isotopes, mirrors etc in year 10, and biology, evolution-->darwin, etc)

You can always swap subjects, a couple of my mates did that. (I think it's before first year 11 assessment is due, but could be different for your school.)

Physics is pretty good, but Yr 12 biology also seems fairly decent. Go pick up a few textbooks to get a feel for their content I guess?

I did all 3 sciences in year 11 - I didn't really like year 11 biology but it is bearable and definitely worth the wait for year 12! Year 12 bio was probably my favourite subject - it was really interesting and relatively straight forward. After I did my year 11 physics yearly exam I knew I wanted to drop it - I had studied my ass off for that exam and knew I'd done badly (which was correct). For me, I spent so much time trying to comprehend the principles and in the end, the interest I had in it was outweighed by its difficulty. I just wasn't willing to spend more time on it than by other subjects. Dropping physics was probably the best decision I've ever made. But this is only one perspective.
