lol glad u enjoyed it. because i'm too lazy to read the entire thread on my slow internet, are u assurance or tax&legal? surprisingly very very few ppl in my intake did sandwich- 2+2 is alot easier to manage and then you also get option to work part time later on and get casual rate + study allowance/grant when you're back at uni.

hi mate
I am in Tax. I will take sometime to consider more carefully about doing 2+2 or sandwich. 'cause the thing is I haven't got the contract yet so still unsure about their conditions for the programs....

You don't have to choose until quite a bit of time after you commence employment. It's also subject to your group's needs- not so sure about tax since I don't realy know many ppl there, but I know for audit, it can be quite accomodating. I know some people who have combined a bit of both programs forming a hybrid- as long as they ultimately do 2 years work and 2 years full time study, it's all good.

hey guys, would u rather KPMG or PWC or deloitte if u got offers from all?
Good question, I was about to ask that too. I would choose PwC because I tried out for tax and they are the best for that, IMO. What about you?

yeah i would say PWC because it has the best reputation and all. If ure doin tax tho, i hear deloitte is the leader in tax services, but then again its always changing but i think deloitte specialises in tax to a higher degree.
haha whoever told you that is wrong. deloitte lost last year at least half their tax partners to EY and other firms - mass exodus would probably be the best summation of what happened at deloitte.

my opinion on which firm to choose would be to choose the one that you think would be the best culture fit for you and therefore the one that you would enjoy working at the most. you want to be happy where you are considering you will be spending a very large percentage of your time there - mostly because in terms of remuneration and work they are all going to be offering similiar things.

abt the culture stuff, u cant really tell all that much from an interview, so in those terms, its a little difficult. Like u may have got a partner who had a shitty day, so in those terms with such limited exposure i dun u can comment on culture and people etc. I was asking in terms of reputation n stuff, cos liek ure rite, they all do the same thing and same pay etc.
Those of us with experience dealing with various firms in a little more depth may answer your question, but really it is very subjective and it would be a little unfair if we were to offer our biased opinion.

All of the big 4 are highly reputable and you should be pleased working for any of them. It is difficult to decipher who is the 'best', because there is such a vast criteria; who charges the most fees, who has the highest profit margin, who gets the best survey results...etc.

All the BRW 100 tells you is who charges the most fees.

Roadcone was correct in suggesting you make your choice based on culture. That is why it was important for you to attend all the info evenings at the respective firms, so you could get a good feel for who they are and how they relate with eachother.

In the end none of the firms are going to go under any time soon, and they will all offer an invaluable experience.

End of rant.

Agreed. Well spoken.

Each firm will appeal on a different level whether it be the emphasis on teamwork, social events, the way people from different groups interact, the effort spent on certain aspects of staff's lives, charity, etc... but ultimately you need to see which one you see yourself working happily in. Which environment suits you. Also bear in mind that even within the firms, there are different divisions/business units and whilst there will be a common linkage/culture, each group is likely to have even smaller more-specific characteristics which will draw you in.

Even if remuneration did vary between the firms, it wouldn't be a significant/material difference, and you'd be better off picking the firm which you felt offered you the most in terms of experience, development, and of course, enjoyable atmosphere to work in.

uhuh, this was what i was attempting to get at.

and as meads said all of the cadet events held by respective firms should at least give you a feel of the firm.

Sorry just reemphasising it because even though we post this so often, I still get the same questions appearing in my PMs.
