Can you choose a film supplementary if your set text is a film? (1 Viewer)

My set text is Strictly Ballroom and I think I'd like to use American Beauty, as one of my related texts for belonging. Thoughts?

You can but the number of different techniques you have to analyse diminishes. Markers would prefer some variety in your texts.

also the additional material part of the course is aimed at getting you to get a range of sources from a range of mediums. another thing is being able to demonstrate knowledge of how form shapes meaning. i wouldn't advise doing two of the same medium (especially film).

There's nothing stopping you, however, it shows that you lack the ability to analyse a variety of texts.

I think it'd be wiser to choose another text type.
