dunno about prestige but com looks better than eco imo.

it's not unheard of for people to take eco to transfer into com (because of lower atar req).

Deciding your course solely based on prestige isn't going to get you anywhere in life.

not true.
thats y people do medicine lol, u think they actually like it?
If your doing something like med, you must be extremely motivated by money to be in uni for so long. Even so, I doubt they would be as good as somebody doing it for the love.

You'll be surprised how many CEO interviews I've seen on tv where they say I did it for the Prestige/Money(This is after they left, since they gotta think of rep when there currently CEO ;p). Nothing wrong with such motivation. I was like that at first too, then I realised,...this is life.

Well I will admit one of my reasons for wanting to get into Finance is the money. I don't see a problem with money/prestige being ONE reason for selecting a career because who would want to go to uni for (x) years and then only earn the same as somebody who went to tafe. The reason i am stating is that you should still have at least some interest in the career you want to follow in order to succeed, its not like somebody who is scared of blood is going to be a highly successful surgeon. Commerce (or Business) has historically had a higher UAI/ATAR cutoff than Economics.

The problem lies with your interviewer thinking you may not last long enough to see the big bucks and hate the job so much that you leave thus wasting their time and money in offering you a spot in the first place. That, and your interviewer may know the reality of salaries in the respective job/industry vs. social expectations of said salary.

Commerce is not a prestigious degree.

If you want people to stroke your penis ahem.. I mean ego, study law or med sci. Successful completion of one of these degrees will get the "oooooooh"s and "ahhhhhhs" you're looking for.
