Re: Cars

His car is a 2014 model, will the one in the link drive the same as the 2014 one?
i'm not sure, most probably not, the key to buying a used car is to go for a test drive. If you are keen on getting an i30 i suggest you call the dealer and go for a test drive. It's most likely free to do or at most you will have to pay a small deposit but you will end up with a much better car.

Why do people let this happen.[/QUOTE]

The wiring on it is pretty bad. It's been crimped way too many times in patch jobs. If anyone was to get that, I'd want to take out all the wiring and re-wire the car from scratch.

Would require at least $800 of wiring, connectors and insulation/heat tape/heat shrink. Also would require the wiring tools, which not many people will have.

Interior can be salvaged.

Chassis and Engine will be filled with gremlins.

You could if you wanted to but really the chassis might not fit for it (worth an inspection first).

If the chassis isn't in a bad shape, it would be fine. However, I wouldn't trust that chassis unless I tested or inspected it first to see how bad the rust is.

They are 40 years old, a lot arent in good shape. Sunroof is just about the most looked down upon modifications on early Zeds though haha.

It's a 2+2 though, worse seeing 2 seater 260 or 240z with stupid mods or a lot of rust - like this one (was 14k, dont know why they added an extra 0) : http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/240Z-Datsun-V8-/301581043768?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4637a18838

L series engine is pretty bullet proof, that one seems to have an after market turbo though. L28s are pretty cheap, and L28 turbos from the US come up every now and then.

but with a project car isn't the point to do a rebuild? It's a beautiful car and im sure with putting in loads of time and some money the car will drastically appreciate in value. It is a classic after all so the price is only gonna go higher if its in good shape.

Not really with a 260Z 2+2, some very clean ones come up every now and then for ~20k and that's about the cap. The desirable Zs are the 2 seaters, earlier the better. Wouldn't cost much more in terms of restoration costs to do a 240Z 2 seater and they are worth a lot more, problem is they arent cheap even in shit condition.

Looks like it has a heap of rust too, more than he makes out on the ad lol. Some is bound to be structural.

do u mean big wheels as in big rims or stretched tyres? Coz miatas lose function with over stretched tyres and they just become a show car, it looks good espcialy on the miata since it sits low and has a squat stance but ruins the drive ability. And same here, i am keen to finish HSC to get a part time job to save some money to get a miata.
