It's an honours/postgrad society. Much like Amoeba for MMB.

On their website it says

The Alchemists' Society is in charge of the social functions of the School of Chemistry. A number of events are held throughout the year including sports days, barbecues, movie nights, foyer functions, and the annual Alchemists' Ball. Whilst primarily organized by Postgraduate Students , its President is traditionally a member of the Academic staff, and participation in activities is open to all members of the society, from first year undergraduate students to Emeritus Professors.

First year undergrads

Also where was the biological science club?

Uh, good luck hanging with PhD students then. If they have an undergraduate presence at all it isn't apparent to the casual observer.

I haven't seen BioSoc either. Would also be interested in its whereabouts.

film society is great... really nice group of people who truly appreciate some of the finer films that you may/may not have heard about.

poker society is awful.

Yes it is still possible

Though with the clubs, you're going to have to chase them up yourself, which sometimes can be a hassle.

]Yeah, that's understandable. I guess at least that'd stop me signing up with 30 clubs I'll never even want to see again though.
