Hi

I just want to get more info about these types of scholarships. Are only top students (ie: 90+ ) eligible and are able to be successful in getting these types of scholarships or can people who are average to smart can apply and succeed in receiving one (ie: My average is currently 80% in most subjects except for SDD which is currently above 90). Can you guys give me more info and if you succeed in receiving one of these scholarships whom you consider average to smart.

Thanks

I think for co-op at UNSW you need at least a 96 ATAR. Also you need to be competitive generally- so good academics, extracirriculars etc

On UNSW Co-Op - Yeah, as deswa1 said you need a 96+ ATAR. They don't take into account bonus points from the HSC Plus scheme (I'm not sure about EAS though). As for smart it's hard to say - my fellow computer science scholars are definitely smart, but it's not that which solely got them in; they had to be hard working enough to reach that ATAR cutoff. (one of them didn't believe they would get the ATAR they needed, but they did anyway!) they also had a fair amount of extracurriculars - e.g. music, competition participation, camps relevant to computer science. You usually need some amount of these to get an interview, and it helps if you have this sort of stuff to talk about during the interview

also because of the interview component you need to be good socially.

As for USyd, I don't believe they have a Co-Op equivalent, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. for UTS there's an IT scholarship (not sure if this is relevant to you) which is similar, and they accept people based on ATAR and interview - they expect above 90, it seems.

Hope I helped a little :p

Exactly this. I have all the extracurricular stuff, but I doubt I will get the 96 ATAR.
