This year I had subjects on at the time of sport, so I was unable to attend the sport the school provided. They told me I had to complete 30hours of sport outside school.

xP I know I've done more than 30hours in my own way, I don't have a car so I walk everywhere. I was planning on going to the pool for 30hours this year, but every time I set a day to go, it would rain. I have one week left of the holidays now...

I was wondering, do I HAVE TO do it? Can they not pass me for year 11 if I don't? Because I'm really disorganised xP and knowing me I'll only get half the hours in... they want a note from a cotch to prove it... ppft, like I can afford a cotch.

You serious?

Never heard of such a thing. Isn't it the schools fault that the subject is during sport?

What school?

This sounds like your school is putting in a requirement that isn't in the Board of Studies requirements.

At my school, we don't timetable sport for either Years 11 or 12 and there is no requirement for them to make up that time on their own.

Even when we did sport on one afternoon for the school Years 11 and 12 were often excused to attend the old 3 Unit courses (now Extension where they exist at all).

we had to do sport in year 11, but not in year 12

i think if they really are that stringent on it, use walking as your sport. we had beach walking as a sport at school, where people would walk along the beach, buy fish and chips and then go back to school

It might be compulsary. There is a requirement from the bored of studies that is related with sports.

In our school, we had to go to camp, but for those who can't/don't want to go they had to finish a thick booklet, about drugs and safe sex, etc. If we didn't do either of these, we would have to spend sports time (was sports time, everyone goes home) completing the booklet.

There are many ways to get past the boredofstudies in sports. I think your school chose one of them which might be 30 hour of sport.

If so you might have to do sports next term if you don't do it.

Those drugs, sex driving stuff are a mandatory part [Crossroads] which everyone must do. As for sport, I don't think its compulsory for Year 11 and 12.

I was at my school yesterday and asked the Principal this very question.

His reply - there is no requirement for sport, pdhpe etc in Stage 6 - i.e. Years 11 and 12 but there is a mandatory requirement for 300 hours between Years 7 - 10.

He has heard of schools that like to insist on a certain time being spent on physical activity in Years 11 and 12 in order to make sure that students do things other than study. It is a school based requirement and not a Board of Studies one for the Preliminary or HSC years. We don't have any mandatory requirement for sport at all other than students attending Swimming and Athletics Carnivals (although many don't and present the appropriate notes as they would for any other absence).
