HSC

There final score for the subject is the average of the two.

In your above example it would be 51.5.

But if you do well in the HSC it will also have an indirect effect of raising your assesment mark (as the year groups average HSC mark will be higher).

hi

ive read this thread but im still a lil confused;

if someone performs badly in a subject and achives a low assessment mark (hypothetical last in class), what would then happen if they put the effort in (short of performing a miracle) and get a much better hsc mark? (example: 28 assessment | 75 hsc mark)

how would that effect there final score for that subject?
just remember that the mark that your school sends in to the board isnt your assessment mark. or they would send in highly inflated ones for everyone in the school. :D

Scaling

hey, my cousin performed the HSC last year and he achieved a UAI of 88. His average assessment marks for his subjects were in the 50s. His UAI was high because the markers believed the assessment tasks he did were really hard and therefore is mark was scaled. So it seems to me that in ur case u may achieve a HSC mark of in the low 70s. I hope that solves ur problem.
