Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc?

The history of the various astronomers furthers our understanding of Physics. :)

Even English - in terms of context. Can't think of one in Maths yet though. :D

All the formulae, theroms and concepts have a long history behind them.

Pythagorases Therom for example.

Yeah, but you don't really need to understand it (the history) to use them. I don't think.

Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc?

History is very very important. It is the most important subject as it is part of the syllabus of many subjects except:
  • Agriculture
  • Business Studies
  • Community and Family Studies
  • Design and Technology
  • Engineering Studies
  • Food Technology
  • Information Process and Technology
  • General Mathematics
  • Mathematics
  • Mathematics Extension 1
  • Mathematics Extension 2
  • PD/H/PE
  • Society and Culture
  • Arabic Beginners
  • Arabic Continuers
  • Arabic Extension
  • Armenian Continuers
  • Chinese Beginners
  • Basically all the languages
  • I can go on forever and
  • forever and
  • forever
  • but I won't
So you can all see how important history is now, guys?

You actually need History in HSC Business Studies when you're learning the various types of Business Management Theories.

Physics is such an awesome subject! why would you want to drop it? (even though i fell asleep trying to study for it...) Shouldn't you be doing 4U math instead of 4U english? :D:D

I thought history would be a very imporant part of society and culture. Also, I do PDHPE and we did the health promotions which covers a brief history of health priorities in the last 200 years. So that's history too.

P.S You make a very good point about the relevance of history.

Thanks, I am glad that my sarcasm was never noticed (oops, another sarcasm). I was pointing out in my post that history is not an important element in many subjects.

And yeah, I think you are right on the society & culture. If I look at it now, I don't even know why I put it up there, thanks.

P.S. Covering "brief history" does not mean that the subject is related to history. If we take that definition, we basically have to say that English is the core of every single subject since we use English and write essays in every subject.

But we use English or write English even in math exams (e.g. the following series is proved true by the principle of the mathematical induction). :D

unfortunately thats true. some annoying people (possibly an english teacher) englishfied the math syllabus! Even chemistry has been englishfied and my chemistry teacher is pretty annoyed about it too. :D

I never have gramatically correct sentenses in math, just to make sure it stays more math like. my statement for mathamatical inductions is like

proven true for n=1
proven true for n=k+1
.'. true for n=1, n=1+1=2, n=2+1=3...
.'. true for all integers n >= 0

Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc?

as in, the board of studies key words (analyse, explain....) i don't even know all of them.

Before it was englisfied, in chemistry, if there was a 4 mark question, with 4 key words, and you wrote 4 things answering the question, you would get 4 marks.

not anymore. if you did that, you may only get 3marks, or 2 marks... :(

Some stupid people got their hands on the syllabus and englishfied everything, even physics. That stupid person must have been a woman, only a woman would do something so horrendous, just so girls can get better marks outside of english. We should just mathify everything back to the norm, but somehow the departement of education got infected with english nerds, so we can't change anything.

Why does the only subject that is compusary happen to be the one that girls are proven to be better at? And why do the subjects have to englishfied to favour girls? I see a lot of anti-male sexism in the department of education. They should just make 4U math compulsary, and the physics syllabus should be reverted back to 80% math. then boys will clearly out perform girls.
