My only objection with HSC English is that it is compulsory, if it wasn't compulsory people wouldn't be complaining because only the people who want to do it, do it. People can argue that Mathematics and Science subjects are more useful to people yet they're not compulsory so why should English?

Well for one thing we're an English speaking country. I for one wouldn't want students that can't speak a word of English to become our doctors, lawyers, etc.

Science not being compulsory I can understand - not everyone is good at science, blah blah blah. But yeah in RE: maths, I'm with you there.

Seriously, they should just have comprehension and essays based on comprehension or whatever so there's no room for plagiarism and memorising essays and stuff lol (not being serious)
