To be honest, Workload is MAX in 2nd year elec thanks to those uber 3uoc subjects (but less workload than physics major people who have 3crs for everything subjects :p) In my opinion the workload is lightest in 1st year 2nd semester for elec eng people ..

Hm.... I'm afraid if I tell you here my post would be deleted again :p But anyway it is remarkably similar to this except replace the GENS with COMP and take away MATH2859.

how much do you need for uni medals again?
I think uni medals are only given out to last year student with exceptional thesis.... Not sure if WAM is a factor as such by then....

Oh and to make this post relavent I would say i got 89% for my COMP 1B theory multiple choices exam.

i cant seem to get much info about required WAM for uni medallists these days.. but some people in this thread seems really close :p
Usually 85+. (probably around 88). I think someone in optometry got 92. That was the higest in Opt in recent years. In med it's around 80.

Honours in the Bachelor of Engineering degree is awarded for consistent quality performance over the duration of the program. The CSE WAM is used to award honours, and the cut-off's are:

Honours Class 1 CSE WAM 75 or greater
Honours Class 2, Division 1 CSE WAM 70 or greater
Honours Class 2, Division 2 CSE WAM 65 or greater
Pass Degree CSE WAM < 65

The University Medal may be recommended for a student where;

the student's CSE WAM is greater than 85, and
the student has achieved the highest CSE WAM for their cohort, and
the student's performance is comparable with previous awards of the University Medal for CSE.

you forgot to add the most important bit

"Please note that Bachelor of Science (CompSci) students are required to enrol in and complete an additional year to be considered for honours"

I think to get hon class 1 for "add on" honours year is 85...

Why 75 WAM is only needed for 4 year programs to get hon 1???

Comp Sci doesn't use CSE WAM - its not a BE degree :)

Yeah, its bullshit. Devalues 1st class honours if you give it out like candy.

How do you know you were even scaled at all? Matt said he most likely wasn't going to scale (like last yr). Anyways, its usually easier to get your marks pushed up in Higher Stats.

There was a slight downward scaling this year to give a grade distribution comparable to previous years.

Lol. That isn't much of a surprise given that the final was the same as the trial paper. Anyways, thanks for the post - it confirmed my initial suspicions (despite what Matt said before the exam).
