Firefox is better for those who enjoy tabbed browsing but also for those who aren't exactly computer savvy because it is more secure.
I would suggest that those who aren't exactly computer savvy might not know how to install Firefox, or what a 'browser' is... that little blue 'e' can represent the entire internet, for one who is not exactly computer savvy.

The main thing with Firefox is that it renders the page very similar to IE within reason (a lot less pages are broken) and also has no ActiveX, so automatically you're not affected by half of the exploits out there.

Firefox's basic advantages are a different, most say sleeker interface, a greater resistance (it's not totally infallible though) to spyware and web nasties (IE makes one HUGE target since many hackers hate Microsoft and know everyone's using it), tabbed browsing (makes life tonnes easier for most), quicker updates for bugs and holes (last few reported holes have been fixed in a matter of weeks, rather than Microsoft's months) and extensions that extend its functionality (e.g. an ad-blocker). You can use IE and Firefox concurrently and Firefox has an Import Wizard that will import all your bookmarks, settings, etc. from IE when you first install it (so you don't really lose much and get a fresh new look). I find it very customisable and easy to use. All of IE's basic functionality is duplicated in Firefox - it works in mostly the same way, so it's easy to learn. Apart from some websites that require IE to work (e.g. Windows Update), Firefox works across the web, and if it doesn't it's easy to fire up IE to take over. I highly recommend you switch. :)

bitchgirl, as you may or may not have noticed Firefox does not support paragraphs at this point in time (As seen above). For this reason alone, I'd recommend postponing your investigation until support is added.

I disagree, firefox takes up twice the resources in Task Manager and it also has an annoying memory leak. However, I enjoy the rest of the features immensely.

damn it FF1.1 is taking ages to release. I'm using the alpha now and it is alot better.

FF1.05, released today, isn't really worth the upgrade, just some security fixes.

Thank you for your extraordinarily constructive comment.

I will be sure to remember this extremely important and relevant point in the future.

I must learn more about these "paragraphs"... they sound intruiging.

I will also make sure to bring this important matter up with Mozilla and tell them they are losing users because there is no auto-paragraph® feature.

OpenOffice is difficult to use if you want to do anything complex.

Uninstalling XP is also a bit difficult for any average user. As is getting and installing Linux.

It's easier to just use the things I'm familiar with.

I keep IE for looking at porn.
