no it isnt

if you think that is the aim of this policy you are a fool. if you think this policy will alleviate the problem you are also a fool. first of all, they plan to increase teaching staff i.e. teachers and administration/bureaucrats. it smacks of peronism secondly they plan to increase enrollments, so the overall effect of this policy in regards to outcomes for students will probably nil.

its populism, not good policy
Obviously I don't agree.

Whether or not taxing people more makes you moist, even you have to admit that the proposed changes are entirely unsustainable and will drive france into the ground.
The first two are certainly sustainable. #1 may even allow #3 to be sustainable.

the socialists want to increase the minimum wage
introduce a new tax bracket of 75% on earnings over 1.3m euros
raise taxes on big corporations, introduce something approximating a tobin tax

reduce the retirement age
Those bolded ones all have merit. The retirement age should stay the same as currently though.

ok, but so what? maybe 60,000 new teaching staff is, overall, not such a bad thing. it doesn't follow that socialist election is any better than sarkozy, especially considering the rest of the policies which you have ignored.

also it's not a matter of agreeing or disagreeing on whether this is peronism. teachers are socialist stalwarts, they are clearly being paid off (regardless of whether it is a good policy or not)

Do left of centre parties invest in education because teachers support them, or do teachers support them because they invest in education?

As in Australian politics I am more concerned with social policy than economic policy and Sarkozy's anti immigrant rhetoric precludes me ever supporting him.

immigrants and third world citizens are the ultimate casualties of bad first world economic policy so your distinction between economic and social policy is misguided

and if you think french socialists are some paragons of humanitarian internationalism and social virtues don't forget they were (are) one of the very few socialist parties that WEREN'T anti-colonialism

Yes and in the pre Howard era the Australian Labor Party were historically the more anti immigrant of the two parties, I refer to Hollande and Sarkozy and nothing beyond that.

and yet the socialists still will not rally against french and european agricultural subsidies, by far the most anti-immigrant and third world policy there is. as with mitterand and the past, french socialists only care about france. you can ignore historical memory and party machination when it suits you but you can't have your cake and eat it too
