Salut à tous ! Here are some tips to help anyone taking French for the HSC
French Beginners & French Continuers:
2023 French Beginners Exam date: Friday 13 October
2023 French Continuers Exam date: Friday 13 October
Listening tips: Make sure you are familiar with all the expressions you've been taught and also make sure you can understand them if someone says them to you. The best way to do that is to practice past listening exams. Listen carefully, make notes and try to get everything down so you increase your chance of getting full marks.
Reading tips: Make sure you carefully read the texts. Underline (or highlight) important words and expressions if needed. Provide as much detail as possible when answering the question so that you don't miss any crucial points. If there are texts that require an answer in French, be sure to address every point raised. Even if your writing is excellent, you can still lose mark for not covering all aspects of the text.
Writing tips: Make sure you write correctly, including grammar, conjugation, gender etc. Also, your response needs to be well structured, depending on the type of response you need to write.
Finally, the dictionary is very important! If you don't know what a word means, use the dictionary, no need to guess. That also applies if you know but you still feel like you have a doubt.
