i am not the one who strarted bragging about how fast his connection is. anyway i am not prepared to pay 20 dollars extra , for more speed, i think 1500 will be more then plenty for what i need it for.

Seeing as you need it for gaming and presumably some pron. Wild would be good for you.

I'm with Wild: 256k, 15Gb limit (unmetered midnight-8am), shapes to 64k, static IP, supports peering, runs games serves and tucows is unmetered. $36.95 pm, $49 connection charge.

Oh and don't buy modems of ISPs or pay for installation. I saved more than $100 by buying a modem retail and a further $100 in setting it up myself.

What Nekkid said...

I recommend INTERNODE

They offer 512kbps 15GB for $49.95 see here Clicky

Tip avoid cheapo really cheap ISPs like Dodo

you really get what you pay for

internode have excellent customer service and nice gaming servers and forum which includes free downloads
Exetel offers 512k 24gb with unmetered downloads in the early hours of the morning for the same price.

I've found Exetel to be very reliable, and also if you go over your limit it's only $3 for every extra gigabyte, and others I know who are on iiNet have found them to be good too.

I'd recommend Exetel or iiNet.

Unfortunately all the big players (except TPG) rely on the power of branding and advertising to compete rather than pricing, performance and technology.

Dodo, bigpond, optus, etc all tend to be rip-offs. Personally I rather pay for the service I recieve not the advertising on TV every night.

iinet is great for speed, but it just doesn't have the value for money TPG has. TPG's 1500/20GB/$50 is, hands down, the best value for money 1500 plan on the market.

If your like my house, which never uses the housephone(lets say <$20 month on calls) then bundling your local calls with iinet is worth it($29.95 monthly line rental and 18 cents local calls). In your price range you can get on a 12000 plan with 20 gigs(10 peak/10 off peak) for $49.95.

It's not suitable for everyone, but for people who hardly make local calls its awesome. Some say why would you need that speed(12000), but if you like to download and play games at the same time as well as share the network with 1 or more users then you will appreciate the speed.

i dont really get how having more phone calls makes the plan yuor with not suitable.

but if what u say, that plan wont really suit me , cuase atm my house does over 100+ dollars in phone calls. however considering i use dialup internet and make about 5 calls a day from just dialing up , becuase it disconnects every two hours and when at night i leave to download programs it reconencts it self.

hmm if that unmetered means that it doesnt count up yuor download, that could really be good for me, becuase i plan to download all the files at night.

because you cant get it without switching phone carriers and there may be cheaper residential phone plans around.

Yes when using wild you do NOT pay for any traffic midnight-8am, any traffic on their games servers and peered data including unmetered access to the entire tucows mirror.

Oh and unlike some ISPs they do not double-dip and charge for up and down, it doesn't matter which passes the 15gb first if you do pass it with either you will be shaped.

meh.... soon you wont need to use the phone line(i.e. get charged for local calls or international) with VOIP

i hear VOIP is not all that great. extra charges are becoming compulsory due to emergency calls and such. but still.

does anyone use it ???
