Um.

What is a status quo power again?!
A power that broadly supports and is part of the existing international system. So the question is whether China is becoming part of the current system of Western hegemony or whether it will become a challenge to that system.

...I think.

Well I don't think China is interested in keeping in line with American dominance.
But thanks for that.

Oh please god let two of the essay questions be China & Oil/resources

Have you got any idea how long our essays are meant to be?

No idea.

But for my history exam, we're expected to write 1000 words for a one hour essay.

So the geopolitics essay are roughly 40minutes right? So I'm guessing 600-700 words. Or more! Depending on what you can fit in.

But I'm aiming for three main points per essay.

Awesome. That'll be 2-3 pages each, then, since I have pretty small writing. Hopefully there'll be questions that I can just tackle by blathering on about deterritorialisation or the Singer-Wildasky thesis or something.

So what's a shatterbelt, and why should I care that the Middle East is one?

grr... that first question was just.. so direct... I had most of the summaries of the readings in my head, but struggled to get the exact responses to what each writer had said to each section. So I just wrote down everything i remembered about the subjects whilst rarely mentioning the authors at alll. bleh. i think i still did well though, even though my positive reaction from the test became muted after i received my essay (i got a pass) :(.
