Well, the performances have come and gone, and now the exam is over. Just wondering what other 08's did for their IP and GP. Sum up what you performed in a few lines. Who knows maybe it'll will inspire 09's.

I'll start:

GP: Exploration of human identity, and the search to find yourself. Very physical and symbollically based, but still full of one liners.

IP: The individuals choice between living in a harsh reality, or escaping into fantasy. Metaphorically represented through a train porter and his 'child-like' uses of a cardboard box. 90% of the piece was mime.

Others?

GP: 3 local politicians raising funds for a bankrupted local council. (nope, no deeper meaning at all)

IP: extract from the play "I Am My Own Wife" by Doug Wright.

GP: A satirical look at how consumerism affects our day to day life. We used symbolism, absurdism and musical theater to get our idea across. Basically it followed one company's attempts to sell its product at any cost.

IP: Film noir take on Little Red Riding Hood -

Any other 08's still around to post what they performed? Alternatively, what have 09's got planned for their piece?

let see
GP: consumerism and trying to break out of the cycle. We used a heap of cardboard boxes and packaging and centred the story around a massive department store.
IP: critical analysis (applied research project) centred around the issue of drama used as a theraputic healing agent AKA "drama therapy". It was surprisingly interesting and helped me decide what i wanted to do after school.

Hey I'm an 09'er!
GP: An Epic theater piece about three news anchors who attempt to explain all of the problems in society, and how this only contributes to the problem. We may also touch on the theory that Global warming is causing us to all act like Bogans on heat :)
IP: Failed actress on the brink, based on Bjork's character Selma from 'Dancer in the Dark.' Uses several classical pieces eg. Antigone, Olga from Fireface and others.

Be careful if your doing epic theatre, because at lot of students get it wrong. Learn the reasoning behind it, not just the techniques.

GP - Romanian Family 5 in size, attempting to make it past English customs at airport. Handles themes such as conformity and assimilation. Religion is used as a symbol for absolute acceptance of a new culture.

IP - Extracted from "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead!" by Tom Stoppard. I'm the Player. A travelling actor willing to stoop to any means in order to sell his services.

My trial's in a week! Funnily enough, I'm a little excited :)

G.P: We use one prop - a giant blue swiss ball (representative of the world) and all the characters represent different countries trying to own it.

I.P: I'm playing Janis Joplin! Idea started when I read this amazing piece of writing about songs in the booklet of Tom Wait's C.D, 'Used Songs' and realised it fit that character Janis really well. From there the script turned into this eclectic bunch of quotes from her and bits from the movie 'The Rose' (sort of a biopic) and all different stuff. I'm pretty happy with it :)

I was actually thinking (during the period of time when I hated my IP with all my guts) how good a performance with the Mad Hatter could potentially be.

GP: Presented in the style of musical theatre, a motorway is being built through shops owned by retailers of different ethnicities (we were intending it to be a metaphor for the GFC)
IP: A convict forced to become a prostitute to get back to England

your idea sounds waaay awesome. I got fed up with not being able to stick to one idea so i half forced myself to pick an earlier idea (it is now obvious that the hatter was an earlier idea for everyone).
want to trade ips?
we have to perform our gp and ip AGAIN. next tuesday we are having a creative arts night (joy!) but hey the more practice the better i suppose
