Essentially, Felix questions the reason for which he has forced Miranda to stay with him for a very long period of time, doing everything that he asks. Felix has been selfish, although he can now see what she really seeks and consequently, what he must do for her. After being betrayed and obsessed with enacting revenge, Felix progresses and transforms. Speaking directly to her, he says "to the elements be free". This explicit intertextuality relinquishes his grief of Miranda and his pursuit of revenge. In this final passage, Miranda becomes Ariel, as Felix liberates his daughter’s memory. Just as importantly, however, he gives himself permission to make a new start in his own life, thus highlighting his transformation.

I hope this helps! 😄
