its not abt being "good at it". its the time factor and the amount of committment it requires

yeah, i'm tempted to drop ext2 this year, even though english is definitely my best subject, because i'm not sure if i have enough committment to do well in it.

this year i'm technically doing 13u... 4hsc, 9prelim... but it works out to be 12u a year if i don't drop anything

11 units - 4u eng, 3u maths, physics and modern history.
I don't think you should try to play the system and think "if I do 15 units, I'm bound to get a high UAI". If you do badly in all your 15 units because you've spread yourself out to thin, it's not worth it - rather do 10 units and do it well. Plus if you have tons of units you would always end up thinking "well I'm not going to study so hard in .....(be it maths, french, latin, history, etc) because it's just a back up"

I did 13 units in year 11
... 2U Maths
... Adv. Eng
... Eco
... Legal
... Digital Imaging
... IPT

I ended up dropping digital imaging (was a 1U course anyway) and 2U maths down to gen. maths (I thought that it was smarter for me to get high 80's-90's in general maths rather than <30 in 2unit maths)... I now have 10 units.

I personally think that having an excess of 12 is pushing the limit. Wouldn't you rather have 10 (or max 12) units to spread your undivided attention to, rather than have 14 units just for the sake of believing that 'the more units you do, the higher the UAI you recieve'? Don't universities take your best 10 units anyway? Fair enough if you have 12 to have one as a back up, but seriously... why would you bother? You could save yourself the time and stress of completing more assessments and undergoing more exams!

Then again, everyone to their own...

12, had 13 this morning, but I dropped Ext Hist because I can cope with 4u english, my teacher is being an asshole, and I got sick of 2 hrs in that hot stuffy room with the asshole. And Rock Eisteddfod is a much better alternative.

I'm doing 12. I thought about dropping a subject but then I'd be left with 10 and no room to move.
