In my first algebra tute i sat next to this asian chick.

a minute later she says to me "Hi :)", so i say hi back. We occasionally talked a bit during the tute.

At the end after we got our names marked off (my name came first), i turned to her to say bye, but she was facing the other way, forcing something into her bag, so i just left.

semi-success.
lol and then she ignores u coz she didnt hear u and u walked away.. and from then, she wont talk to u again coz she thinks ur sum sad boy who dont say bye..

happened to me.. =X

Meeting new people is fucking annoying. Especially when they're complete randoms and you know you wont meet them again.
it pays off if you do actually see them again. My current uni friends circlle has grown exponentially because of a girl that i met in 2nd year.

If I didn't join YAA, SIFE, UWAMS, UWADU and AIESEC I'd have no friends other than highschool ones - to me uni is alot less social unless you go in with friends/live on campus.

Still, there's a reason why people are less inviting and open after 2nd year when it comes to making friends.

wat? i thought uni is waaay MORE social?
No waaaaay.

At high school, I had a massive group of friends/acquaintences who I'd see every break time, and some of them in class. At uni, I have one or two friends/acquaintences per course, whom I basically never see outside of lectures/labs/tutes because we don't have the same break times. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'd barely have made any friends if it weren't for science labs.

Socialising at uni takes a lot more effort, imo :(

I hate most student run organisations.

Want to know why? Because they're run by students.

Students who inevitably make decisions based on stupid, fucking internal politics or other spastic ideas because they lack the objective standpoint of an actual professional.

Also, such students simply join or run such societies for mostly CV references so that when they eventually have to apply for an internship or graduate position, they'll be able to pass off some bullshit about being a well-rounded individual when it is completely irrelevant towards the job and that most firms will make you their little work bitch and treat you like shit anyway.

I've heard of SIFE and AIESEC. Both sound like a load-of-shit student organisations in whom only a certain few individuals probably end up taking the credit for the majority of everyone else's work.

AIESEC in particular is probably worse because its the 'largest' student organisation in the world to begin with. Apparently, its some work internship placement program but i'm not surprised that most people won't have the slightest fucking idea what they do because all they ever say about themselves is that they're the biggest student organisation in the world. It's funny too because obviously, a lot of students are all keen and shit to be a part of it only to find out that they'll never have to do anything or that they'll simply be used for their manpower with their endless fucking marketing campaigns on campus and get blatant fuck-all in return.

The End.:)

Sign up for one of the revues and if so, only consider doing cast or tech as you'll make the most friends that way.

You can do Yellow Shirts later on in the year as well if you're interested.

You really gotta throw yourself out there at university. The more you do it, the more friends you'll make and the less shit your time spent there will be.
