Hi,
With the English Paper 1 yesterday, I struggle to write for long periods of time without pain in my arm/hand.
I was only able to write a few pages for my essay (4), which I had the points I wanted to make but simply couldn't write effectively to go into detail.
I left around 45 minutes to spare for the essay, I was able to finish it but barely and probably with not enough detail.

I do try to practice writing for longer periods of time, but the pain still persists.
Any tips for paper 2 tomorrow with 3 essays?

Get a good pen that glides along the page, and make sure you don't press too hard. But remember to familiarise yourself with said pen. I recommend the Uni Ball Micro Deluxe.

Papermate Inkjoy 100 is the shit. I'll never use another pen.

As for writing faster, it's probably too late to worry about that now.

i find that its easier to write if you write on a slight curve, that way you can easily link your letters/words together.
you should practice running writing. it helps a lot.
i've tested it out so it should work

Non-slanted handwriting-takes about an hour to write a 1000 word essay
Slanted handwriting-1000 words in 41 mins.

Make sure the pen isn't one of those that require you to actually press really hard on the paper, that's just going to waste time. Use one of the pens mentioned above. I find that really cheap pens actually work really well, sometimes even better then pens that cost about $2+ each.
Just remember to bring a few pens in just in case, and test each pen before going in :)

oh also, depending on how you grip your pen, but don't grip it so tightly that you have marks on your hand when you're finished. Not only will you be in pain halfway through your essay, but it will slow down your writing a lot.

Best of Luck c:

Thanks for the responses,
I'll do my best to obtain a better pen to write with :)
And @BrokenRecord, I'll test out slanted writing, thanks for the tips.

Use one of those felt tip pens as you don't have to press, so you don't hurt

try and rest your elbow on the table so that you reduce the strain on your arm

Yeh i notice that too in exams. Your arm just hovers beyond the front of the table. Try keep it grounded.
