Which one tends to be more difficult?

Mainly talking about maths here...

according to my teacher independent is harder than cssa generally.

I find it varies from year to year and from subject to subject within those years e.g. one year Catholic trial will be a lot harder for Ancient History but will be easier for Modern History.

It isn't a hard and fast rule.

One thing I have noticed is that the Independent trials are sometimes known to pick up really little picky points and by precise whereas the catholic trial is usually more like the HSC itself in terms, at least, of being broader in basis.

exactly what my teacher said. especially cem. repped both.

the independents are definitely harder than the CSSA. independent conics questions are so wordy and different to questions you see every where else.

Its more about your rank since trials go towards internal mark

Advanced English - 77-85
Bio - 81-84/100
Chem - 74-80/100
PE - 81-84/100
Maths - 94-97/120
Extension 1 - 55-58/84

Those are very rough estimates based on last years raw marks and what I've heard from teachers. Its very hard to estimate the raw marks needed for a band 6 in each subject as they change from year to year.

higher the better, obviously, aim for 90+ which should have you ranked near the top somewhere.

This, try to focus more on your rankings then your marks for the trials

2006 - 63%
Guess which order I did them in?
Fucking going to fail trials... :/

Also, for MX2 I usually get to question 5b in the first hour and then get bored and stop so I don't know.

Yeah, I'm pretty fucked for maths. I pretty much have to rank first to increase/keep my rank.

5 and a half questions in one hour, thats a really good effort. i pretty much do the same, the only problem is curve sketching fuks me hard in the exam and so i could take longer in the actual exam if i get a hard curve sketching question
