Nah suck shit to every cock sucker in this country who voted for Labor.

Suck.
It.
Hard.
Um, Liberals proposed the same internet filtering scheme when they were in power and Labour blocked it. Now it's the other way around. Both parties are opportunistic and full of social authoritarians.

If I had to choose again, though, I'd still preference Labour. Next election, if this bill passes, I'll preference Liberals instead, but there's no way Libs deserved another term.

Why do you insist on spelling Labor with a U?
The modern party has little to do with the labour movement or the British Labour Party. It's a unique Australian party with unique spelling for unique historical reasons. U shud respect

Think it's worth asking my local MP what their stance is on this whole thing?

I honestly dont seek porn because of superior will-power, but there are times of great temptation and accidental glimpses. It's a corrupting and dehumanizing influence though, and it tears people further away from eachother imo :(

As a party they did no such thing, and the fact is that ISP level filtering has been part of the ALP platform for some time now, so there's no way they would have blocked it. The Liberals decided that ISP level censorship was too heavy handed, and so went with NetAlert. Yes, there were a few crazies who wanted to go further, but they were by no means in the majority.

The fundamentals are the same, you cock, which is what this thread has been all about: that the government has the audacity to CENSOR MY INTERWEBS!

Providing an optional downloadable tool vs mandatory censorship.

There's a pretty significant difference...

You say modern ALP is unrelated to historical ALP, then go on to cite historical reasons as justification for spelling it without a 'u'.

And unique historical reasons? Sure, if you think there's something special about a silly yank coming along and renaming it from 'labour' to 'labor' to "modernise" it.

It wasnt silly. Australian Labor was to have no association with the wretched class system of the UK - it was to be a country of egalitarianism, with high standards of living for everyone, worker and owner. It's important symbolism evoking the New World, with all the opportunities afforded from the rich land and clean slate.
