doesn't care and protection in this context mean the care jurisdiction of the children's court under the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 (NSW) which is completely separate from family law proceedings and ousts the jurisdiction of the fcfcoa.
Yes majority of the content learnt is in the Children and Youth Persons (C+P) Act. But there is no established syllabus sub-dotpoints under each contemporary issue... Both a good and bad thing. Therefore as long as you can frame it right, it works. Personally am a contemp issue hater, but may have to use it for consumers I feel this year.

no

Question 27(a)
In better responses, students were able to:

  • demonstrate highly developed knowledge about the legal system’s effectiveness in the care and protection of children. For example, how effective the law is in dealing with divorce and shared parental responsibility, child maintenance and domestic violence.
Areas for students to improve include:

  • understanding how specific effectiveness criteria apply to issues involving the care and protection of children, for example, Department of Community and Justice is accessible but lacks resources to achieve justice
  • addressing a range of issues concerning the care and protection of children from a variety of perspectives and in different contexts
  • avoiding writing everything that has been learnt about family law and including only material that is relevant to the question asked.

this was 2020; they want divorce and stuff too

Mmm not really sure what divorce has to do with the care and protection of children. For that I talk about: DCJ Investigations, Mandatory Reporting, FNP overrepresentation in OOHC, etc. NESA always contradicting.

its not a necessity tho, if you want you can do parenting orders, mandatoring reporting and ADVO's which are better framed around care and protection of children.

would we be able to use similar evidence in human rights (genocide) and world order? like one case study down ready for both for example
Yes, but you have to specify how it is a human rights violation and why it's relevant to human rights. Eg. The Russia-Ukraine conflict is relevant to both world order and human rights, but you would use them differently, as they are not relevant to both topics for the same reasons.

that was a rhetorical question by the way, i've worked in family law and care and protection for 4 years. if thats the hsc criteria, so be it, but its wrong from a legal standpoint.

Yeah its strange as. i kinda cover it all js to make sure
like parenting orders and the prioritisation of children and interplay with espr and rectification with the 2023 amendments
then Family court in creating parenting orders and in that sort of way
Then jurisdiction of childrens court in care orders + ECPOs
and then mandatory reporting &interagency information sharing

oh hopefully ur teacher doesnt mark my HSC then 😭
and for my essays like u can see them, but they're not exactly what i write in my assessments, I just make sure I know the law inside and out and what its strenghts and weaknesses are. For instance, for PO's i would know like the amendment what was the issue before the amendment, how theyre made and so on, as well as their FDR. And for their weaknesses I would use a case such as Parker v Leclair (2024) where the father got full custody in the PO because the mother was abusive and then ill just link that to how that serves the best interest of the child and so on. And then for the weaknesses I would include another case like McLeady v McLeady where this guy breaches the PO multiple times and use that case to support my argument how PO's dont promote compliance and how they also don't deal with compliance effectively because when the PO is breached the court just imposes another one which is "slow, costly and potentially traumatic"(Media article I forgot which one LMAO). This is how I always structure my essays regardless of the topic and its been a success for my options. I really hope this helps on how you structure yours, I would always recommend a furthermore to show more understand and a really solid grip on the law in your explain part of the essay.

And ofc I can read one of yours, if you still want my essays let me know and I'll send them through!

depends if i can remember it lol, usually ill do an abbreviated version or shorten the title a bit. the only reason you'd lose marks is if they thought ou werent actually citing a source but just made one up (cause they kinda assume kids make up their MILC stuff)
