The USA is the only country outside of a banana republic that has had to control its local population OR assuming for the sake of argument that Indonesia and Nepal aren't banana republics, a few other countries have done the same? Also, there is a distinct difference between shooting armed gangsters and mowing down student protesters with tanks. DOUBLE ZING!

Please remember that my qualifiers were "not a banana republic" and "unarmed". You've already said that the police are fighting "armed" citizens in the US, the Israelis are fighting armed Palestinians and Indonesia and Nepal are banana republics. WHERE IS YOUR ARGUMENT MORON. TRIPLE ZING!

Israel, Indonesia and Nepal have all declared martial law before, and THAT is the comparison. NOT that they've had to shoot lawless survivors of hurricanes like New Orleans (which they haven't).

Hey dickwad when marital law is declared it doesn't matter whether you are armed or not, you think the National Guard gives a crap whether the looters or rapists are holding a gun? Disobey the law = shot dead. Same in any country. Doesn't matter if you're demonstrator calling for the overthrow of the government or a looter running off with a TV set. When martial law is declared the bullshit stops immediately or else bang!

The thing is when other countries are hit by hurricanes, maritial law isn't required, because there is no anarchy.

if that's what he's trying to push, it's pretty illogical. i mean, new orleans isn't even representative of american society as a whole - the majority of residents are african-american.

You can't prove the community response in New Orleans has happened in other hurricane and flood hit countries such as the ones I posted, because it simply hasn't (so no, finding a American do gooder doesn't disprove anything because it has nothing to do with it)

Whether or not the demographic profile of New Orleans make it good example of most American cities is another matter alltogether and NOT what I'm saying. End of story.
